March 2015 Interviews

My husbands interview is March 2nd and we received unfortunate news at his medical exam yesterday. His chest x ray was determined "abnormal" at Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok. "Discreet Linear Opacity" in the upper right apex. Further testing for TB required. 3 days of Sputum tests/ culture. The culture will take 2 months to return and complete. He is in top health, has never had or shown signs of TB or a chest infection. We expect these tests to come back negative but are left unsettled about how this will effect his interview. It is also scary to have an abnormal chest x-ray so leaves you doing a ton of medical lung health research and worried.

We were told by the doctor that he should attend the interview as scheduled. But what happens with the medical papers? Is anything forwarded? Is he supposed to take anything? Will it be brought up at the interview? I then expect us to go into AP processing until the test is completed 45 days later. Does this mean they will give him back his passport at the interview? He has an appointment to receive his results at the hospital. Is he then responsible for forwarding the paperwork to the embassy along with his passport or does the hospital send the results to the embassy? We thought we had this and were heading through so smoothly after we got our interview date and then ran into this bump in the road ~ so thankful I didn't buy those plane tickets a few days ago when I saw a good price!! The results were so unexpected and now we're left feeling confused and needing advice. Hopefully someone out there can be of some assistance. It will very appreciated! (F)

I am so sorry. I pray you are all well and okay and its just nothing.

Usually they will reschedule your interview until its time for your medical retest. But go anyway If that is what you are told you will more tan likely be given back your passport.

Here's a post to read about someone who like you had same thing and the 3 day test and 2 month culture followup.

Thank you Dwheels. I appreciate your input and had seen her post from the DR. From what I have seen the Phillipines reschedules interviews but I don't believe all countries do and I can't figure out if Bangkok will. According to the doctor we should go as planned. How are the interviews usually rescheduled. By the consulate contacting the beneficiary or vise versa? This is a tough one... hoping we can get some more information.

First off I want to say this is a very good thing, I'm a Respiratory Therapist and TB rarely shows any signs until it's very advanced and has caused major damage to the lungs. So even thought this seems like a bad and sad thing it's wonderful because he will get better not spread the disease and be ready for his Interview. I can't answer your questions but I'm sure someone will. Just to let you know to be very happy they caught this and it will only delay you a little bit. This is a blessing in disguise. graphics-love-909133.gif

Omg I'm so sorry u have had to wait this long! I don't understand the hold up. I said this before but why did all of the K1's get tons of interviews in December and January and all of the married couples have to wait??!! Doesn't make any sense. Praying u and all of us get dates soon!

Yes just go. The embassy will instruct you once you are there. Either you will have interview and be put in AP. Or they will not even start and reschedule you to come back in 2 months.

Hi Jaiyen17 ! I know what you're going thru, my grandmother just had to go thru this in November. However, in our country the doctor cancelled our original appointment at the embassy. I think it's a good sign that they are telling you

to still go. Also, our doctor did not reschedule her interview. I did it from here in the US as soon as the doctor contacted my grandmother and told her the results were forwarded to the embassy. I made the appointment thru the ustraveldocs website.

Oooh - Kay and Jeff...that's cutting it sooooo close! We, like Sharksbelow, allowed a two-week time frame after the interview. Because Australia Post does not deliver on Saturday, that really only gives you about 3 delivery days!!!

Best of luck to you!!!

Sukie in NY

I know  hopefully it will be ok my husband booked our flights and he is getting impatient he wanted to book them on the Friday after the interview and i said no way, this was our compromise so i hope it works out, he just wants to get home to his dad.

Those first two things are from an old process. I sure wish they'd fix those old letters! The "Immigrant Visa Application - Parts 1 and 2" are now the DS-260, which we all fill out online now. Best of luck!

Sukie i nNY

Thank you Sukie, I thought it must be that as its the only thing i did online but they arent very clear so wanted to double check.
