March 2015 Interviews

Highly likely. As much as we would like you would be amazed how much goes out to each embassy a day. Remember there are also K1's that go out in these shipments. There are reconfirms. There are all kinds of petitions and case files in these bunches. A rare case of just one case being sent.

And if you don't even know you have a interview yet you probably don't. Seems this go round NVC is on their game and sending out the P4 letter pretty much right away.

You need to just keep your eyes fixed on the ceac site and track your Visa and watch it say In Transit and once it changes to READY it means its at the embassy. But you will know because you will have had your P4 email.

well explained. Thanks

On my P4 letter its written

"Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview. If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview."

My wife submitted AOS package in August, do I need to take her recent tax return?

Here are the important words in that sentence (which is horribly confusing, by the way...) If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview."

This means to bring a copy of the return that was extended. This will only be applicable if a sponsor filed an extension for the 2013 tax year, and then later filed their 2013 tax return.

As long as your interview is prior to April 15th, you should not have to worry about tax year 2014.

Only if she filed one. I would however take her 2014 W2 to show what she made for 2014 if by interview time you haven't filed 2014 taxes.

Case complete 14th Jan, interview 31st March! Slight delay there. Thanks NVC/London.

Any idea how quickly I can travel to the U.S. after case complete? I was told that I'd get the green card on interview day, but I read on the visa journey FAQ that it can be 10-15 work days!

Might have a job lined up so I need a better idea.

Congratulations. You can travel soon as yo have View in hand I believe for your embassy that's within a week.

You can also request an earlier date. Your embassy is pretty accommodating on that. Once your casefile has arrived at embassy (you will know when your CEAC status changes to READY email the embassy even telling them your situation if you wish (In first post is a sample letter of what to write embassy). And wait for their answer.

I would have medical done noneish so when you write them you can let them know you have medical done and you are ready to go.

Some fellow Aussie re here and can better tel you what to expect and the time to Visa in hand. Sukie our Queen well she knows every thing I think she is the Empress of your Country in disguise (we are just borrowing her). :goofy:

Thanks...I was informed January 3rd case was complete, file being forwarded to Nairobi. I tried to update my case and got an error message. I gave up and just posted my wife's interview date. I took 60 days for NVC to review all submitted documents and notify me of case complete. Very happy I did this on my own with the great help of VJ posters who provided valuable info on how to fill out all the forms.

When do I pay the next fee..before interview or after..and can make the payment in embassy

The only fee you have left to pay besides your medical is the $165 Immigration fee which generates your green card. You pay that after you pick up your Visa package online http://www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis Nothing is paid at the embassy.

The $165 can be paid anytime after interview before you arrive or after up to a year. Please don't be intimidated to believe you HAVE to pay before you leave your country to pay. You don't.

Thanks Dwheels! But I'm in the UK not Australia now. Had to change Embassy (4 month wait) can I request an earlier interview in the UK? And how? I'm ready to go. Visa medical on Friday 13th. That's an unlucky date in England!

Wow that's quite a delay! Hopefully I won't have to wait that long but I see you had to change embassies - what a pain.

As long as your interview is prior to April 15th, you should not have to worry about tax year 2014.

Gosh. This could be a concern for us. If we are post April 15 and my husband hasn't earned enough this year (USD), are we screwed?

Ah...Madam DWheels, I'm no Empress of Oz. Just a Permanent Resident of Oz. I'm the German-born American citizen in my twosome..whose lawyer offered to hire me to help out at her practice!!! If I didn't live two hours from New York City, I think I would have said YES!

I sometimes wonder why, over seven months after POE, I still read this forum every day. Guess I just love being part of all the stories!!!

Sharks,

The big deal is when you submitted your AOS, and how close your sponsor is to the magic line. If your interview is post April 15th, the Consulate MAY ask you to bring a copy of your husband's 2014 tax return with you. If they DON'T ask you to bring a copy, bring it anyway.

For ANY of you who are very close to the poverty line, AND you have an interview after April 15th, be prepared to show that your sponsor (and/or co-sponsor(s)) has crossed the poverty line number for 2014.

Your Embassy/Consulate should not expect you to present a 2014 tax return prior to April 15th. However, as DWheels says (and rightly so), have a copy of your sponsor's 2014 W-2 (or other proof of income) with you at your interview. Better to be safe than sorry.
