Scan date dec 22. Got checklisted for not sending in my wife's tax return although she hasn't got a tax return she is a full time student and we have a joint sponsor. Women

Said in that case I need a written latter stating my

Wife is a student and doesn't have a tax return. Seriously annoyed

sorry to hear you got a checklist. Why is NVC asking for your wife's tax return ? Are you sponsoring CR-1/IR-1 for your wife or for someone else ?

I thought NVC requires tax returns of only the sponsor.

I was planning to call the NVC from home since I saw 3 N/As this morning, but I just got the CC email. CC is confirmed!

Have you guys heard about the patial government shutdown that going to be vote tomorrow? I hope the congress pass the budget so nvc can still open. So worry right now.

NVC is part of the DOS, not DHS

Just called nvc and ask to unlock ds-261 and invoice AOS fee. But unfortunately, Talked to a rude lady and she says she can even touch or do anything with my case until someone put in my information. is that true?

You are not alone, same thing here. I have an NVC case # assigned on the 17th and since then I wasn't able to add my email to the case because someone is still updating my case. The NVC agents can't access my file. I was able to submit the DS261 and pay the AOS fee though on the 18th.

It seems weird to me that it's taking more than 10 days to update/enter data in the system while the case is locked for the agents !!!!

Yes, I heard about it, but NVC is not part of the DHS. NVC is part of the Department of State (DOS) so it won't affect the NVC process and embassy process. If it happens tomorrow, few US border guards, US custom agents, and USCIS immigration agents and other agents under DHS may get furloughed. It will probably cause a big line at the any US port and TSA.

After 50 minutes of being on hold.....I'm being told I should hear something from them this Sunday....29th dec last scan date...urgh they don't work on weekend how the heck am I suppose to hear from them then

I know that so weird. But at least you were able to pay your AOS fee on the next day.

Is it true that NVC schedules interviews first 15 day of each month, do you know anything about that? I just recently got a cc i wonder how long it would take for interview in the DR ??
