Hi

I have stayed in US for 3 years and rest of my life in India. Do I need Police clearance certificate from both USA and India?

Thanks

Hey,

Yes ... if you were more than 16 years of age and you lived in the US for more than 6 months then you do require a police certificate.

I believe you only need Police Clearance certificate from India. The USA will check you on their own. I did live in the USA for several years in my past, but I don't think I have to get Police Clearance from there. I believe they will check you within a process. Am I wrong? This question is important to me too.

^ I have asked this question a while back, only need police certificates for countries outside of the US. They're able to look up your record if you've lived in the US.

I have finally received my case # through email, let the journey begin!

Hi vjers, Ive been a bystander for a few weeks now but have decided to become active and share. I must say this is a place with a wealth of information and im so glad I found it. I have learned so much from everyones experiences.

Himanshu, I also lived in the U.S. for many years and am being petitioned for in the IR 5 cat. A police record was requested, not sure if it was from a checklist as my daughter has a lawyer handling documents.

I just had a relative of mine take a copy of my passport along with a notorized letter to the county court (in county which I lived) and it was done. Hope this helps

Keep up the good work guys

Quick question: With just receiving an email from nvc for my case #, there's a checklist document that comes with it. Do we check that off and put on top of the aos bar coded cover sheet? Thanks

I included both the checklist document that came in the welcome letter e-mail AND the AOS bar coded cover sheet with my packages.

I think either works because the bar code just identifies your case # to NVC when they input and scan your package. I just wanted to be on the safe side so I included both.

That's what I was thinking/planning on doing. Thanks for the reply!

on the cover sheet it says place on top of your documents and place it in the order that's listed. so that's what I did. maybe its a checkoff list for them to help them out. anything to help them out!! im in!!! lol.. so I would add it under your barcode pages.. it says in the instructions its needed but that's just my input.

AOS barcode goes first then cover sheet if im not mistaken.
