Hello!

I was hoping someone could give me some clarification regarding the police certificate. My husband is from Tanzania and has lived in Tanzania his whole life, minus a couple months in Kenya (less than 6 months). He has obtained a police clearance certificate from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Tanzania. I read something stating that a police certificate should be obtain from the local police authority if they have lived in a different part of the country of nationality for more than 6 months. Does this mean that my husband needs to speak with the local authorities in each city/town he has lived for more than 6 months within Tanzania or would it be sufficient to submit the one police clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs?

Thank you!

Hello Saylin and others,

Is it normal for the NVC to send case number and IID number by e-mail?

We have called the NVC few times, all we found out that our case received from the USCIS (Jan 13) and we have to wait 32-45 days for the case number to be assigned. We were gonna call them again around the last days of February, but today BOOM - we got an email with NVC welcome letter with both numbers and further instructions on how to proceed.

Is it REAL e-mail?

Hey,

It is their standard procedure to send out emails with all the information. Good luck with the next steps.

Hey,

I lived in the UK for 6 years, in Pakistan for 18 and in UAE for 4 years. I stayed in different cities throughout but required 1 police certificate from each of these countries.

Mostly there is a centralized authority which issues these certificates. I don`t think you will require one from each town.

Thank you for the answer. But we never went that far with them on the phone to give them our e-mail addresses. Do they have it with our packet sent from the USCIS? I mean I thought WE have to give them e-mail address as they don't have it?

We have been prepared on a LONG wait for the NVC to assign our case number and all of a sudden we received it by e-mail Still unbelievable... though pleasant news.

Thank you! I was under that impression but I am over researching in hopes to avoid any checklists. Thanks again!

I received an email from NVC as well i think they get this information from the G1145 form which is usually sent with i-130 package with petitioners contact information.

Start with your NVC journey :)
