So my wife has only 2 years of tax returns as thats when she only started working! There is an option on the I-864 that says check this box if you have 3 years of tax returns filed or something to that effect... what are the implications of not ticking it, as obviously she doesn't have 3 years only 2....

Thanks guys, I will be so relieved when this form is complete!

A rep at the NVC told me that they only look at the most recent year. I wanted to send the other two because I had them but she said it wouldn't matter. I think the only time they really will need to check the two previous years is if you are really close to the minimum income line for your household. So it's up to you and your wife. You could either send just the most recent or send both with a letter explaining why the third year wasn't filed. I'm a "better safe than sorry" kind of person so I sent all of them anyways even though the rep said not to.

Hey, thanks for that, I am exactly like you, better safe than sorry especially when it comes to the NVC haha. I won't check the box, but will include the last 2 years and write a note as to what is going on with it.

Have you got a CC yet or just waiting? Of course your Canadian, so I think you can do it all through the email, which must be a lot better :)

Oh god, my beneficiary changed address now that we are at NVC, I have still yet to get a case # assigned to me. Should I go forward with using the new address with all the upcoming forms (I-864 etc...), will this cause a hiccup in my case?

That sounds good!

I'm waiting...just sent my documents on Wednesday. Email is not all it's cracked up to be! While I have seen others who mailed their stuff in get confirmation from the NVC that their documents were received and getting their "scan date", I was told that I won't receive any correspondence from them and just to wait my 60 days. So I have no confirmation that they actually got my stuff and am just to wait and hope it's all good. I'm not so good at that haha!

Lol I am the same way!! And they say Canadians are so patient and calm:) I will continue to call and check - some of the NVC agents are more willing to chat with you like normal people than others. I will post for sure if I hear anything at all!!

Yes, calling to talk to an NVC rep who is somewhat transparent about the process is helpful, for sure. Please post when you find out, and thanks again for your kind words and empathy. Having this VJ community as a resource is better than gold: Folks who know all too well the fact that you couldn't make up the details of your visa journey if you tried... and folks who can give tips to make this bumpy ride a little more smooth.

Cheers!

Hope everyone had a nice valentines last night... well as nice as nice can be given the siutation of most on this forum.

Could anyone perhaps help, I am pretty much done the I-864...

However, I am stuck on Part 6; can my wife the petitioner, use my income?

Basically our situation is this - she lived with her mom, spliting bills on rent, and me supporting them too with my income from over here; my wife has since moved over to Ireland with me to see out the remainder of the process, she still maintains ties, she is an online student at Liberty university almost finished her undergrad. So can I use my income for part 6 and include it in her current income? or am I best just to leave that blank.

We have a joint sponsor, so we dont need to worry about money. Her mom works, but I havent included her in my wifes household, should I be doing so?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I didnt read the bit as being optional, so we are not going to include my income as it won't continue when I leave the country, Just stressing out about NA, N/A and NONE - I've put them everywhere including names, I really hope they dont read it as 5 other people immigrating with me all named NA NA lol and that an attorney named NA NA filled my paper work - any sample forms ive seen, including the one on this site all leave a lot of blanks, ugh, confused.com

well this might be a good thing...i understand there's another storm brewing which would probably be yet another 'snow day' so its kind of good that they are closed....i'd rather this than for them to be closed separate days.

This is just a bit of tax information in case anyone was interested.

So before I got my case complete I was feeling overly worried that they might give me a checklist for more financial evidence because I only sent an employment letter and my most recent pay stub (I hear 6 months of pay stubs is common).

I decided to prepare my taxes in advance of going to visit my husband in the UK, he filled out the W7 paperwork for applying for a ITIN, and we took it to the embassy and submitted it to the IRS office. I know it is totally okay to put NRA in the SSN spot and mail file married filling separately. But this way we were able to have my taxes reviewed and they made us a copy that is stamped by the IRS that is useable as a tax transcript just in case we needed my 2014 taxes for a checklist or the interview.

This turned out to not be needed as we got our case complete with no checklists, but it is a potential method of submitting taxes and/or having a copy just in case of a checklist.
