Ritbiv, how did you send the packages?

We´ve got a checklist and sent the corrected document on Feb. 7th via USPS Priority (unfortunately) and according to the rep at NVC today they haven´t received it yet :-(

We sent via FedEx overnight shipping. You can track the status of your package at USPS website using the tracking number they gave you. What's the status showing?

yay!! that's your scan date :)

So happy. Finally I am one step closer. :)

Today everything was finally posted as "paid" & I was able to begin my IV application :) exciting, yes... But already I am so frustrated! I have only estimated dates of previous entries into the US & in one part of the application it asks if you have ever been denied entry (which I have) & I'm not even sure the exact date of that... I know it was in June & I was able to cross the next day without troubles but I'm wondering if this is going to cause any issues? Also wondering if being unemployed is going to look bad on the application?

You don't remember the dates of your last 5 visits? For your denial, did you not get paperwork or a stamp in your passport with the date? If not, did you post about when you were visiting the US on like social media or a blog, or text someone about it? You can't remember the month and then what day of the week it was then go from there?

As a beneficiary, your employment status doesn't matter. I was unemployed when I was going through the process, and had no issues. Not even asked about it at the interview. They know you'll be quitting anyways when you get the visa and move to the US (unless you're one of the few where you keep your job and either transfer to their US-based company or telecommute).

That is our problem, we did not get a tracking number so we can´t follow the status.

We´re in shock about checklist and documents got out without tracking (unfortunately, I know)

So sorry. Call again on Monday, it should be there by Monday. Did you misplace the receipt that USPS gave you. It would be a great help.

hello all!

Can anyone help me clarify something? On the IR section on us embassy website, they seem the say I need to contact NVC when I have my documents, so they can set an interview date... I'm confused.. do I have to send my package to NVC or not? Or will they just forward my case to the embassy?

Here's what the website says :

Once the approved petition has been received at the immigrant visa unit from USCIS, you will receive the "Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants" with a list of the documents the intending immigrant (your immediate relative) must present at the immigrant visa interview.

  • Please ensure that you complete Form DS-260 as soon as possible. Each beneficiaries of an Immigrant Visa must complete that form, this way the required internal administrative processing can begin.
  • You then need to notify NVC in Portsmouth (New Hampshire) once you have obtained all the necessary documents as listed in the "Instructions Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants."
  • NVC will set you with the final visa interview date in Paris, France.

I never received a stamp or anything, was just asked to turn around & to be able to show documents proving ties to my country next time I tried to cross... Which was the next day & they never asked for anything! I've crossed many times since then but I saw that they noted if you're unsure about the exact dates of your travels to just give best estimate, so that's what I'm doing.

Hi all,

this may be a stupid question but we filed our IV and AoS forms this week via electronic processing. The NVC finally allowed me to give them my email (they would not take it for weeks after receiving the file). Will they email anything to indicate the paperwork has been received. The lady on the phone today told me that we will not receive anything and she didn't know if our paperwork has been entered into the system? Is that possible? Should I call again? She said that nothing will show up in her system until our case has been reviewed in 60 days. but I see you guys having "scan dates" so… argh. I THINK I know how this works and then I talk to the NVC and I get confused again.

I just sent payment for the AOS (864) for my wife this morning. I then tried to do the same for her two children, but the system keeps saying that I've already done it, even though the kids have different case numbers and invoice numbers. Anyone else have an issue like this or did I miss something in the instructions?

Don't worry. You will get an email confirmation from NVC that they received your documents within 3-5 days.
