Hi all,

Hopefully an easy question: when filing the I-130, do I (the petitioner) need to include a certified copy of my birth certificate? Or is just a photocopy of the official one I have at my house sufficient?

Thanks for the clarification.

To show proof of your citizenship either a copy of the certified BC or copy of your passport.

I sent a copy of my birth certificate ( front and back) and a copy of my passport. .. you can submit either or. I did both.

Bit of overkill... LOL

IMHO it's better not to send extraneous information because all you're doing is sending things that the adjudicator has to sift through making their job harder.

Guys I sent a "copy" of the original one. I would never send my originals to USCIS. They can gladly keep the "copy" I have the original. I'm no fool lol.

it does not have to be a certified copy.As long as it is a copy of the orig al or certified birth certificate.you need either that or all copy of passport pages for proof of citizenship.

you should send in copy of passport pages stamp with visits as that helps prove you actually met within 2 years
