Here goes my interview experience: Went with my spouse and kids though it wasn't necessary but it was a psychological boost. Appointment set for 10.30am, got to the office at 9.18 parked across the street @ $18 for 2 hours. Went inside USCIS @ 10am. The IO came at exactly 10.30am. Took oath and went straight to the test. I passed all 6 questions: 1. Bill of right 2. Governor of IL 3. Highest court 4. Capital of Illinois 5. Congress make-up 6. First president. Got the 6 correctly and it boosted my confidence. IO did a thorough review of my application. IO was very professional and straight to the point. Said I had provided all that they need with the initial application and didn't ask for anything else. Did a name change. Finally, I got recommended for approval! One more step to go. The Interview lasted for 16 minutes! So glad it is almost over with. Wish Vjners good luck!!!

Congrats!

Thank you for the comments and recommendation. Actually I have done my biometrics on 03/04 but there is no movement in my case. Last update is still application received and biometrics did not trigger any date or status change on the case. I have called them once and they mentioned that since it is still under the regular processing time of that field office, we are unable to initiate the inquiry. I tried to do it on the website as well but when I submitted it, it said you cannot because of the processing time. I did not know if I could schedule an infopass appointment for this purpose. You are probably correct about the application never got forwarded to the field office as I am seeing all the applicants with same field office already got their interviews done/scheduled a while ago who applied with/after me.

I misunderstood your situation... I thought your last message said that your last update was that your application had been accepted back in February. You are in the background check and interview scheduling stage which can take several months. Personal opinion: I would wait 120 days from the date of your last update and then make an Infopass appointment. In other words, schedule an appointment for mid-July. Hopefully you'll be placed in-line for an interview before then, but if not, you just need to be patient. Every case is different; forget other applicants at your field office, but if it's been over 4 months since your bio, start contacting them again.

For a review of each step of my N-400 naturalization process, from application to oath ceremony, please click here.

I just had my interview today. Passed!

Approved and recommended for an Oath Ceremony on June 19 at the L.A. Convention Center.

The interview went smooth. Got there 30 minutes before scheduled time and had to wait until 30 miutes past my appointed time before I got called by a female Immigration Officer.

She was very friendly, and after an ID check she started with the Civics test. (I did not have my expired passport with me because I was not able to find it, but that did not seem to be a problem. It was the passport that I used during the first half of my residency.)

She started with the writing and reading part.

She dictated and I wrote: The President lives in the White House.

And had me read the scentence: Where does the President live?

1. What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?

2. What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

3. Who is the Governor of California?

4. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

5. Who was the first President?

6 .Name two national U.S. Holidays?

6 out of 6 and she went on to go over the N-400 application.

It was mostly basic questions. Where I live, what I do, about my wife, about my 13 trips to Sweden. (none longer than 6 months so no problem)

I have an agreement with the IRS to pay some taxes I owe from a previous year, so I showed her my IRS statement, and that I have been paying according to the agreement. That was not problem.

I also have a traffic ticket from 2010 for Not stopping at a red light. which I paid off immediately and I gave the IO a copy of the citation. No problem with that either.

After she had asked me all the questions on the N-400 form, she said I was approved and that she would schedule me for the next interview! :)

So only the final step left for me now! (at least in this Naturalization process, after that I also have a pending green card application for my wife, that I am planning to sponsor)

Hi I just had my interview today at LA office and APPROVED!

My appointment is 7:15 am and we were there 6:30 am and long line is already awaiting....Then at 7 am they started calling for those who have 7am and 7:15 appointment. At approximately 8am my name was called by an IO. Before I sat he lets me swore then ask for my green card, ID, my husbands passport & naturalization certificate, and our marriage certificate. He then go through with my application and sign after. By the way he's not sure about one of the digit on my social security number so I gave him my social security card just to make sure that it's correct...then he photocopied my ID my green card and SS card.

After signing my application, he ask me if I reviewed the handbook and if I'am ready to take the test....

First was reading:

Who is the father of our country?

Writing:

Washington is the father of our country

Civic test questions(not in order):

What is one right or freedom from the first amendment?

Who is in charge of the executive branch?

If the president can no longer serve, who becomes president?

There re four amendments to the constitution about who can vote.Describe one of them?

What is one reason colonist came to America?

During the Cold War what was the main concern of the United States?

I got all the correct answers then he congratulated me! He gave me a paper stating that I'am recommended for approval and said that they will just mail the letter for my oath schedule.

Hi sunny life! Did the IO told you on when your oath is? Because I just had my interview today too at LA office but my IO didn't mention on when is the next Oath? And if that so, then hopefully June 19 will be my oath too!

Hi sunny life! Did the IO told you on when your oath is? Because I just had my interview today too at LA office but my IO didn't mention on when is the next Oath? And if that so, then hopefully June 19 will be my oath too!

Yes, the IO told me that she should schedule me for the Ceremony in June (there is only once a month in L.A) and shw pointed at a calendar on her wall to make sure she said the correct date, and the Oath ceremony was written on the 19th, (which she also said).

Houston Folks if we are lucky we should expect our interview letters starting next month. I just saw on a different tracker website that a person who applied in Jan got interview letter this month for June interview. That's like 5 month interview and 6 month oath. That's super fast for Houston considering recent timelines of minimum 8 months. Hopefully we will get ours done sooner too. I will keep you guys posted on H'town happenings.

Hi folks,

I got more than 5 traffic tickets in past 5 years and I don't have any copies of them to bring to the interview. But i have some of them paid and have some dismissed by my lawyer. So I will not be able to bring my tickets/court copies. Will be a problem? My interview is on June 5th. Any comments?

Thank you.

It depends on your interviewer and whether or not your local office has a policy of being overly picky with traffic tickets. Some interviewers won't care at all and others will hold off on approving your application until you go to the courts in question and get proof that all your tickets have been paid or dismissed. No way to tell what your interviewer is going to do, unfortunately.
