What date did you receive your RFE? You don't have to have the 10 year GC before filing the N-400! As long as you are eligible you can file as soon as your 90 day window opens! That will force them to approve your ROC (I-751) before processing the N-400! Send your RFE response as soon as you can and see what happens! Good luck and keep us updated!

Hi all SO GLAD I found this forum!!

Sorry about the length, but I need to give some details.

I applied for my ROC on Feb 20, case was transferred to CSC on Aug 20 then local office, i assume on Sep 1...around Oct 25 I was sent an RFE and I sent back a couple documents and a list of what I had previously sent (seems some of my docs were misplaced).

I have a way better job than my husband and he owes taxes (I do now) so we have filed married but separate. He is also way older than I am, older men made me feel more secure I guess. Anyway...

some of the docs I sent back were on Oct 28 that was confirmed delivered on Nov 2 were:

1) plane tickets from US Airways.com for our trip to FL for Caribbean carnival (we did an online check in)

...2) His W-2 for 2013 and 2014 ...3) our leases for our last 2 apts, just the cover page ..4) an old furniture rental agreement from 2012 and payoff letter ...5) car insurance info for about 3 years (his license was suspended though) ..6) a couple random months of our savings account statements ..7) letters from the banks ..8) copies of random month of our credit card statements ...9) our renters insurance for our last 2 apartments and a couple other docs I cant think of off hand since im at work typing this.

Since I haven't heard anything I filled out an inquiry form and got this reply:

The status of this service request is:

On 11/11/2015, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your I-751 to notify us that you believe your case is outside of our normal processing time. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete. If you do not receive notice of action within 180 days of this response, please follow up by calling our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TDD for the hearing impaired)."

Should I be worried? has anyone been through this?

We are not criminals, ive never been arrested. so im wrecking my brain nervous about whats the hold-up.

In January I can start filing for my N-400 and I am thinking about doing that if I am not approved.The application seems a little intimidating though, so I may get an immigration lawyer this time around.

Please advise! Anyone

I did the same once my case was beyond time limit, I called them they sent me this security hold letter. After 2 days I got another letter that I am approved. So from the day I called them for inquiry it took total 12days to get approved. But I didn't had any RFE.

We are same of age and no tax problems. So it might take few time but they are going to approve. Stay tight.

Yes you can apply for citizenship even of your Roc is still pending.

Seems like a bunch of folks are stuck in security checks.

I am the only one in the Jan filers list that has not gotten any action at all

thanks. ill try to not overthink this as the worse scenario ever...its good to know im not the only one. Today makes a month exactly since they have received my RFE reply and a week exactly since I received a response about the security hold, so I will try to practice patience.
