Hi,

Just wanted to share my biometrics experience with you all. I went to the South El Monte office (Los Angeles) on Wednesday, overall it was about 2 hours. Some of that time was due to my last name on my green card being different to my last name on my petition, maiden to married name. This probably could have been resolved quicker had I had my marriage certificate with me. It basically just required an extra step of them checking your name on the system, no biggy but it probably added an additional half hour to my time there.

Also on your appointment letter it makes no mention of bringing your green card, I'm sure most of you are like me and super paranoid about what they will ask for so I took mine. You do need to take it as they will ask to see it. FYI, a US drivers licence seemed to be their preferred form of ID over your passport but you can definitely use your passport if you don't have a licence. They just didn't really care about my passport at all.

My appointment was at 11am, I got there and checked in about 10.50am. I feel you could probably get there before your appointment time and just get checked in earlier and therefore out earlier. Probably not like 2 hours hours before but half hour or so, just something to consider.

Joining this thread because we sent our packet in the mail on Feb 16th and received notice of receipt on the 18th at the Vermont Processing center.

On "Removing Conditions" - Personally I think this is a ridiculous process only created to generate more money. I've been together longer with more history and even children together and have seen fellow applicants who were only dating a few months before going through this process fly on through straight to a 10-year. Sorry to sound extremely bitter, but I feel like there is no end to the paperwork and filing fees and the way things have gone down at every turn has caused a great amount of unnecessary stress on our marriage. If I could do it all over again, I would have more seriously considered his request to just move to his country instead.

Was just reading N-400 info. My wife got here March, 2012 and we were married April, 2012. So what I'm reading is next month she can apply for citizenship and we don't even have a biometrics appointment yet for removal of conditions. This just doesn't seem right. We're paying $590 for something that we really don't need if we apply for citizenship.

Hi guys, I thought that Feb filers are going thru Biometrics in March, but Vermont are running late again (what a surprise). I will be out of the country for 10 days, starting April 7th. What should I do, to make sure I won't miss my appointment. Should I call USCIS in advance? If I don't receive the letter on time and miss the appointment, am I gonna get a new date, or I'll be in trouble for not showing up? Thank you for your help!

yea, I have the same issue. I will be out of country for more than 2 weeks, starting April 11th. VSC is starting send biometrics appointment towards Jan filers, I hope in March, I will get biometric appointment letter. I do not want worry about missing biometric appointment while I am out of country for 2 weeks.

Hi guys, I thought that Feb filers are going thru Biometrics in March, but Vermont are running late again (what a surprise). I will be out of the country for 10 days, starting April 7th. What should I do, to make sure I won't miss my appointment. Should I call USCIS in advance? If I don't receive the letter on time and miss the appointment, am I gonna get a new date, or I'll be in trouble for not showing up? Thank you for your help!
