working without EAD renewal

hello

Ok I'm stuck, like many others, in the post-AOS background check log-jam. However my main issue is that my EAD shortly expires (11 months after i rcvd it) and it's only 40-odd days since they got my EAD renewal application - I thought we'd have the GC before now and completely forgot about EAD renewal. ... And I have quite a nice job which I dont want to leave but am minded to keep quiet about the expiration and hope the EAD comes sharpish. If I have to leave then I can't work anywhere else anyway til the EAD is approved and , of course, we'll need the money.

Tricky, huh? Anyone have any experience with this?

i dont have any experience but i will tell u what i will do. i will continue working. the employer will not suddenly ask to see your ead and since you need the money i will take the option of doing what you have to do to take care of your family/ who knows how long the renewal of ead is going to take

I'd contact my congressman's office and ask them to help you out. That or make an infopass and let them know why you need it to be expedited.

Hi Jane. I have done both of those things. Infopass is useless inside the 90 days. And pretty much the rest of the time....

Filed: Other Timeline

Unfortunately you are correct that nothing can be done to expedite EAD inside the 90 day window.

It's your decision. You might want to make a more exact calculation. How many days has it been since you filed your renewal? How many more days are left on your old card?

You can almost rest assured it will take 90 days for them to process your new request. I've seen some here of late that are quicker, but not many.

rebeccajo - you're quite right. the EAD process seems to be on the verge of collapse - it's in a much worse state than this time last year (53days for me then). Called the FBI this morning who say they haven't even received my biometrics my local office. Recourse available? FA. I've written a letter. I'll be at day 50 when it expires.

Never mind. I want to go back to London anyway....
