My EAD was approved last Friday on the 70th day after receipt and today my status has updated to card ordered! Exciting stuff!

So does anyone know what I have to do next? I've heard I'll need to apply for a SSN before I can accept work?! Naively I had assumed I'd be sent that with my card!

I know all offices are different but how long did it take you to receive the physical social security card after you applied? and did any one of you try the walk in a couple days later and ask for a print out? did it work? I'm just really anxious to start working and that's the only thing in my way!!! I have 2 offers but they both need my social to let me start working.

You have to apply for a Social Security Number and then (after get your SS#) for a Driver's License :) Congrats and good luck!!!

I've applied for my SSN last week and as my EAD have a typo error I'm waiting for the corrected one before pass through into a SS Office to try to have my SSN onto a piece of paper :) So as I'm waiting for a new EAD card I'm not so anxious about that. Sorry for not helping :)

It's so good to have news! Card in production for EAD/AP. It's been a long 78 days wait for that approval and I can't imagine how long the wait will be for the GC approval but at least now there will be something to do to keep busy.

Does the SSN have any qualifier written on it? Like "valid for work only with DHS authorization" or is it just his name and SSN number on it? Thanks

Thank you. I have the same thing on my SSN that I got on my prior no immigrant visa. I guess I'll need to wait until the GC Is in hand before these qualifiers are removed from the SSN card and drivers license

It says valid for work only with dhs authorization and then his ssn right under it

EAD approved and card/document production, as well as AP approval yesterday afternoon. This was 79 days from NOA1. I made an USCIS inquiry on the 76th day and wrote to my Senator, not sure which if any worked lol. However, my Senator did get back to me with an update of all 4 cases at 1pm yesterday and within that hour my case status changed for the EAD and AP. I like to think his office pushed this along but not sure. Either way very happy:).

Hello everyone,

I recently get really discouraged. After filing on February 17th and doing Fingerprints on March 13th, and getting on RFE for initial evidence, none of our apps changed for a long time except the interview date which was today (more about that in a bit).

However on May 5th the application for the advance parole changed to "case was approved". Great, but the EAD did not change. Four days ago or so I checked the advance parole application again and it said "on May 11th you case was approved" even though that had already happened a week before. In the EAD application there was still no change.

Yesterday evening, the evening before today's interview I checked the employment application again and it had changed to "card in production", which was funny because it happened one day before the interview. A few hours later however it said" case was approved ". Isn't that weird ??? What should we think about this ??? :-(

Regarding the interview this morning, to make it short, we were pretty disappointed to not get approved right away. It was interesting to see that one of the officers basically approved every client, wishing them all the best, afterwards while we were waiting and our soon to be officer did not approve any of the clients before us.

The interview itself seemed to work fine, wet could answer every question nicely and correctly, she did not have to sperate us and

Seemed to accept every document we provided her with. (Insurance documents, lease, bank accounts documents) but did not seem very interested in our love story and any of our pictures. However, she seemed happy with every answer we gave.

When we were done she said that she won't approve us today but that everything seems fine to her and that unless she needs anything or finds anything crazy (her words) she will be finished in two to three weeks.

That was a complete shock to us as we had prepared for this interview really well and brought so much documentation that we thought we surely would get approved. Right now we are both very sad and frankly concerned. Do you think something could have been wrong with our background check and that is why it might take longer ? I have never committed any crime in neither my home country or the USA, nor did I do ANYTHING wrong ever (seriously).is there reason to be concerned ? Is there anything we can done ? We really am not sure how this could have happened and am very sad right.

All the best to you guys in the meantime !!!

Don't get discouraged. My EAD got approved 2 days before the interview and it happened on that same order, before the card for production thing and then the approved one so that's normal

And for the interview I was shocked to see that I wasn't approved at the spot. She said she still had to finish reviewing my application and that I should've get a response in 30 days but the next day my status changed to card ordered for production which made me realize I was approved because they wouldn't order a card for something denied right? Just hang in there, I know it's hard but I'm sure you'll receive good news in the next few days

Thank you so much Philly512. Our hearts really sunk when she said she won't approve us gtoday but that within two to three weeks she should be done. I wonder what the reason for the review might be.

I am not planning to leave the USA in the next weeks anyways but it would be nice to receive the EAD and to not be super delayed with the whole process. Thank you again for the nice words.

P.s. I forgot to mention this: after the interview I asked one of the employees at the counter when to expect the now approved EAD card and she looked it up at her computer and said it had not been approved yet...I obviously did not have my phone with me in the room to show her the update, but I was surprised to hear her say that...any thoughts on this one anyone ?

Philly, how long did it take from approved until you had the EAD in your hands if I may ask ?

Best
