So are you agreeing with Isis burning the pilot then? After all, they consider themselves at war and clearly saw the Jordanian pilot as an enemy.

Lets just say captured pilots historically are often not held in the same high regard as ground troops. However, in this case, this is a contest between Jordan and ISIS to show who can be most ruthless. The wars that the US wins, the US has been willing to be even more ruthless in its pursuit of victory than the losers were. The wars fought to a draw, or some could say, a loss, the US population developed a distaste for continuing the conflict. If you are going to fight a war, go all in. If you are not willing to do so, stay home.

It generally only works for those with the most to lose, which in most case would be their own survival. In the case of Vietnam, Iraq, Korea and Afghanistan there were no clear goals to those conflicts - just a desire to wade in militarily with little thought to the aftermath.

If more Americans had spoken up in 2003 and in the 2004 election you might not be dealing with ISIS today.

This woman was on death row anyway so her execution will be just business as usual. I have little sympathy for her and perhaps putting her to sleep is the humane thing to do. May others from ISIS soon follow her.

Amman (AFP) - Jordan will execute Wednesday an Iraqi woman on death row over a failed bombing after having vowed to avenge the murder of a Jordanian pilot by Islamic State jihadists, an official said.

I think we can all agree that there is no justification for burning someone to death, although the eye for an eye rationale is no less depraved than that of ISIS.

War is not pretty, nor should it be. However, every since Desert Storm and the nightly follies, the greater American public only sees the little puff of smoke when the missile or smart bomb hits its target. It all looks so clean and surgical from thousands of feet in the air. Obama likes that even one more step removed where the pilot can be on the other side of the world, fly his RC drone toward a suspected target, and fire a hellfire missile. Just a target. No smell of burning flesh, no dismembered troops. No boots on the ground.

My post was not a reply to yours, it was toward what Hail Ming! posted prior to getting it removed.

NY Daily News Posts Graphic Photos Of Islamic State Burning Pilot Alive . . . Blurred Image Of Mohammed Cartoon…

The New York Daily News considers a cartoon more offensive than a man being burned alive.

The word is upside down. The rising threat of radical Islam is more dangerous to the world than the third Reich, and much more evil. Wake up world

In a country that has a spotty human rights record, Jordan has a reputation for executing people usually after a questionable legal process.

Apparently it is fine to overlook that so long as they are executing the 'right' people. Bonkers.

So no we are not Jordan, unless you are saying that you also believe in tyrannical government and summary execution without due process.

As to what difference it will make, I doubt it will make any at all. In fact the reason that Jordan had done this probably has less to do with taking a stand against IS than it does with dissuading dissidents in their own country from joining up.

Sure and perhaps in the future our leaders will remember that before they start spurious wars for private gain. It's not like anyone didn't give them fair warning about what would happen

I do not believe in tyrannical government and summary execution without due process. However, I do believe their threats to start with were in place. And once you made that threat you have to make good on it. Like I said sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Will it make a difference with this one? No. Will it make them think twice the next time someone threatens to execute one of their prisoners if they execute one of theirs now that they saw they made good on it? Chances are not, but even a 1% chance is worth it.

As far as being Jordan, it was less about what they did in retaliation and more about what Isis did. It was more identifying with that, not with their response.

Fat chance. These are the same people who were willing to arm the Syrian rebels a few years back and who, before that, were all snuggled up close to the Taleban. War is good business. It makes millionaires overnight, as is the case with many family friends of some of our previous presidents. The only problem is that we prefer to fight our wars on other countries and this time it's getting too close to home.

Well this is it isn't it. The hypocrisy and hubris are sickening. All those people who sat back and found convoluted justifications for the Iraq war, which was so unjustifiable that the US should have temporarily switched the stars and stripes for the skull and crossbones, are now quite happy to sit back and condemn isis, conveniently forgetting that they set them up in the first place. Much the same as they did in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Imbeciles.
