There are many different thoughts on this subject. I am curious how everyone else feels...keep in mind this officer did not refuse any other military service including deployment to Afganistan (which he was refused)...only his deployment to Iraq.

Personally I believe the stand that Lt. Ehren Watada has taken is bold, and I support his stand that this war is illegal and immoral. It takes more than guts to do what he has done taking a firm stand regarding this issue.

I am so proud of him. First officer to take a stand against the war. I heard his mother interviewed a while back. he certainly has the support of his family.

I support his stance.. he is strong willed. This whole war was a lie. Bush and his neocons fab this war around 9-11. Their is not one clue that points to them Even Bush admitted that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11.

This war was to conquar and set up bases for the forces of the U.S.

The United States is becoming imperlist..

the military deploys soldiers according to it's needs, not the needs of the personnel. it's not a bold stand on his part, it's idiocy on his part and against the oath of office he took.

For dissenters in the military, life is hard, and then you serve time. If you don't want to be ordered around, you don't go into the service. Getting in is voluntary, staying in requires following orders. That's the bottom line, take it or leave it.

His oath was to uphold the US Constitution and it is ilegal to follow unlawful orders. BRAVO Lt. Watada. A true profile in courage.

The US Constitution deems the President to be the Commander in Chief of the Armed Services. If Watada wanted to run things, he should have run for president.

That goes without saying, and not one line of it supports what he is doing, whether you agree with him or not. He's not the first, nor will he be the last to protest deployment to an assignment he objects to, and it always ends the same. They lose. No country in its right mind allows soldiers to decide when and where they will fight, and that is as it should be.

his oath was also to obey the president and those appointed over him.
