Hey girls,

I got my hair cut today, and the woman that cut my hair told me to stop using Pantene because it was too strong for my hair. So now, I am switching to Dove  . I am so sick of curly hair...soooooooooooo sick of it  So I cut it short today..its wierd..when my hair gets to a certian length it gets lighter and it doesnt grow as fast.. so I chopped it off...and now its hard to tie it in a pony tail, so it looks all funky under my hijab..hehe...

What kind of shampoo do you use? Any recommendations...

I did the no poo poo method for awhile, and my hair was great!

Unfortunately, I started swimming, and I need some strong shampoo to get all the chlorine out of my hair. No more curly, bouncy hair for me :(

I have curly hair too....and I HATE it. I haven't settled in on one shampoo yet, still experimenting.

I tried no poo and I hated it, I guess it doesnt work for everyone. :(

I comb my hair in the shower when the conditioner is in it, then I rinse it out and put teh product in and diffuse it. If someone wanted to take my blow dryer they would have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

I know exactly how you feel. One of my friends was telling me about the Japanese straightening method, but Im too scared to do it.

Its expensive though, runs from $350-$1000. The blowdryer is just killing my hair..uffies...

I straighten my hair alot too, there is 2 key things here. Good tools and Deep Conditioning. I have a really good blow dryer, cost alot but worth every penny. Dries my hair in 30% of the time and leaves it very straight, I then smooth it over with a flat iron (ceramic) I deep condition my hair 2 times a week and cut back alot of hair color and highlighting.

I also let my hair air dry when I can, it helps alot.

I think it was the Pantene that killed my hair. I'm gonna try cutting back on the shampoo and deep condition my hair a few times a week like you said. I notice it looks better when I let it air dry, it doesnt look as dry. I'll see what I can do..this visa process just makes it worse too...stresses me out. Thank you Rahma for the website, I am going to give it a try.

My stylist told me that Pantene has too much wax that weighs the hair down. I use Jason natural products that I buy from Whole Foods Market (containg no Sodium Lauryl and Laureth Sulfate). I used to use volumizing Schwarzkopf shampoo. I also use a nettle rinse to keep my hair shiny and healthy. I also henna my hair on occasion.

For my duaghter's hair I just use the Whole Foods Brand baby shampoo. Both work very well, I am satisfied  try to use only natural products with few chemicals, natural things that benefit not damage.

I have very thick hair which I bleach and highlight. Luckily my hair stands up to a barrage of mistreatment and is in good condition, but I could not live without my GHD hair flat irons They are $130 on Folica.com but you ladies with curly hair will think its the best money you have ever spent. Poker straight hair in 2 mins. No other straightener comes close. Also I use Treseme shampoo and conditioner. I love the conditioner it really makes my hair shine.
