Hi guys,

I am hoping this is where I can "report" this. I don't know whether it's a bug or what, and it's not hugely important...I am just curious as to why it happened and if others notice it.

Today I responded to a poster and I know for a fact the wording I used. When I posted my response and read it, the wording had changed (and it wasn't spell check or anything). The meaning was the same so I am not upset or anything, it is just not how I wanted to say what I said. Now here's the hinky part...I edited the post and rewrote what I originally put in the words I originally used, I reposted it, and lo and behold it changed the wording AGAIN. I just left it because it sort of meant the same thing and I didn't want to edit again.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Is it something the site does occasionally for a reason I don't know about? I am always careful how I word things in order to be clear in my communication, this is why I noticed this, and was surprised that my words had been changed and would not allow me to say what I wanted to say in the words I wanted to use.

Thanks in advance for any responses. I'm just curious, that's all..

How often has it happened? I don't think that's normal.

It just happened once so far. I responded to a poster this afternoon in the Canadian portal - NVC for Canadians. Weird, eh?

A screen capture would be helpful. Perhaps you encountered the VJ censor. Some very innocuous words have been included because they could be used in a crude or non PC manner. For instance, you can't refer to anyone named Richard by a common nickname, rather you will see something like ######.

Can't do screen shot but below is a copy and paste of my post. The word that was switched was "thoughts". I tried twice to put "advice". Thoughts was substituted.

We got through NVC in 4 months, my interview in Montreal is set for Feb 10. I have noticed that the wait times are creeping up and people are waiting longer for Case numbers and invoices, and docs will be reviewed in "at least 60 days" now...but having said that, with Canada using EP, EP seems to go a little quicker. Best of luck to you for a smooth journey through the murky waters of NVC. my thoughts to you - if you guys qualify to use the I864EZ, I highly recommend it. It seems a lot of people have trouble with the I864 and receive checklists. We used the EZ and breezed through with no checklist.

Again, good luck and best wishes on your journey :)

And again...I am just curious as to why it would do this. The meaning is the same, no biggie.

That is weird.

A test:

my thoughts to you

Imagine that. #myadvicetoyou must be a forbidden phrase - probably something to do with a lawsuit long, long ago.

Perhaps this has something to do with it:

You know...that makes perfect sense! Can't be having VJ or anyone on here being sued for bad "advice". I knew there had to be a good explanation! Thanks for digging it up for me. :)

So I can't give my advice to someone who specifically asks me? Such as " My advise to you is to read the guides"?!

Test> 'My thoughts to you is ...'

Wow, had no idea that phrase gets automatically edited. Hmmm.......

But you can write, 'My advice is that you ...'

Yep. I totally get why they made it this way though. Just have to be careful of the order of the words. Who knew? I sure didn't and it just took me off guard. Nice to know VJ is protecting us in that way. :D

It's been happening to me a few times, during the last 90 days.

and I post a LOT of stuff here in the last 90 days.

So I can't give my advice to someone who specifically asks me? Such as " My advise to you is to read the guides"?!

well, you could say something like -

Hey ! Come back on a PC, and Study the GUIDES section - we've a Guide for yer exact scenario ! Doing research on a handphone web-browser is almost useless !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
