Ok, so I'm a bit lost at this part - once you have your case number and book for a medical appointment... do you fill out the DS-160 right away and pay that fee too? Or wait until after your medical exam is completed?

There's a pinned thread in this UK FORUM that kinda lays it all out Charlie, starting with things to line up before NOA2. There's also the instructions from the embassy. Read over those again.

Thanks, Yuna! Yes, we are definitely waiting until we know that the embassy has our case. But how are you considered "ready" if you haven't had your medical yet? lol

You know you're officially ready to begin when the CEAC updates to state the embassy is ready for you, or you receive packet 3 in the mail. You could make an appointment for the medical, and fill out the other forms before attending that medical. It's whatever of the three things reaches the embassy last. The order in which they are done are not too critical. Ideally, you'd also want to have the I134 and supporting evidence from your sponsor before starting.

Approved today. I was only in the embassy an hour or so. My advice is to get there 45 mins before your appointment, and wait at the blue desk. You'll get your ticket number first (I got I901). By the time I had been approved, the people next to me (I913), hadn't been called up yet to hand in their documents.

It was a pleasant experience, everything went well.

Congratulations!

Don't forget though, that depending on the type of visa being applied for that will have a bearing on which order people are called up (i.e. you were interviewed for a CR1, K1's might need to be interviewed by different officers). When they give you the information leaflet it does state not to be concerned if people with a later number get called up before you do. I do agree though, that if you queue up early and get an earlier number you are more likely to get seen earlier. I queued up just over 1/2 an hour before my appointment time and got given I-907.

Michael had his K-1 Interview today, and was approved! He said he waited about an hour and a half before he was called in and the lady that interviewed him was super nice. He thinks she may have been new, because her supervisor stood behind her for the whole interview.

Wooo that was a huge relief! Now we can finish wedding details lol.

Hi, my first post on this thread :)

All forms submitted, the DS160 and readiness form, medical completed. Just have to wait now for the elusive interview date

Talk about a nerve racking process

My visa arrived today via courier (on a moped)! I needed to show proof of ID for receipt (I used my long form birth certificate) and had to sign the electronic hand held box that the courier had. With that done, the package was handed over to me.

It was given to me in a sealed plastic envelope (N.B. courier card and keys used to cover personal information):

Opening it up, there was a white sealed envelope, my passport and a white information leaflet:

DSCF8231_zps3vnn936w.jpg

The visa is just a little smaller than one page of the passport, and is stuck on one of the pages. I haven't included a picture for obvious reasons (confidential personal information). I can say it is in colour and looks impressive!

My only concern is that there is a small tear on the envelope, approx. 3cm long, where it's been folded and roughly handled (damn courier no doubt...) The flap is well sealed with Sellotape (with a stamp underneath). I've read that a small tear is fine, can anyone confirm if I need to be concerned about this tear or not (see picture below)?

Regarding the envelope tear. Apply some logic.

Could you pull out a piece of paper, alter the information, then get it perfectly back in place inside the sealed envelope through that hole????

Considering what our money looks like, I'm not surprised it's a little on the boring side

LOL I wouldn't know Yuna. My passport is 9 years old. It has no chip, no color, no designs.

I think it should be an eagle firing a cannon. Maybe they save the good stuff for the green card lol
