UK VJers Progress Update Thread

CR1 approved today! Arrived at around 12.10 and was fourth in the line and spoke to some very nice people.

We were lit in at 12.30 and people starting getting called up at 1.00pm. Went to the first window and handed my documents which were all fine. He then asked for another passport photo which I had two of but were the same

As the one he had. He told me I needed one from the last 6 months so I had to leave the embassy and run round the corner to Goulds pharmacy to get one as I didn't have the change for the booth in the embassy.

Got back with my photo and went to the same window. Was held back in the line a little but all was well. Went to sit back down and was called to another window the lady was a friendly middle aged American women who asked me:

-where did me and my wife meet?

-how did we stay in touch? (To which I replied she lived in UK with me)

-who was my joint sponsor.

Then that was it I was approved and she mentioned the hold up visa printing.

Congratulations! Just wondering, do you look any different from your older passport photos? I look literally identical from the ones I have which were taken 8 months ago, I wonder if they will want an up to date one.

I literally looked exactly the same, even the same jacket. I tried to say 'oh I think these ones are from within six months not realizing the damn photo booth at Tesco's had put a date and

Oh haha! Damn Tesco! Mine aren't dated but it's the same one that is attached to the I-129f so it should be obvious they are older than 6 months. I'll just get an updated one! Cheers.

We made our own (AOS, citizenship, passports) using this free photo tool from the Dept of State. Print at home or take the JPEG file on a memory stick to a photo kiosk.

Take a torso shot and it will size and crop your head to a perfect 2x2 square in the middle of a 4x6 print. Then you cut it out with scissors. A plain white door makes a good background.

So I was approved yesterday at the UK embassy but my CEAC status still says ready? Is this normal or due to the ongoing issues they have been having?

It is normal. It won't change until they are ready to start to issue. ours stayed that way for over two weeks.
