There's two parts to arrival in the US.

IMMIGRATION which is checking your visa, passport, etc. The form I-94 documents the immigration and it is what you need for getting SSN and for AOS. No longer a card on the plane. Retrieve yours online.

CUSTOMS which is making sure you didn't smuggle anything illegal in and that you list any items you are bringing that need to be declared. That's a card you fill out and turn in. Not needed by you.

Ah, this is another thing I was wondering. Obviously us K1's will be bringing way more stuff to remain in the US than on normal visits. So, do we not have to declare this like normal?

This visa delay..I just can't believe it's happening now..

Trying to stay positive, but very hard. My

beautiful fiance is distraught, I've gotta try and stay strong. As hard as that is. I've missed so much of the pregnancy, and worries about now possibly missing the wedding, its just so soul-destroying.

I don't know how to begin to handle the limbo. My only hope is they have a week to get things sorted, and hopefully by my interview it will be better, like Nick said.

I feel for everyone going through this at the moment. We just have to keep positive.

Immigrants get unlimited "household goods" duty free. Detailed info straight from the CBP can easily be found by googling - CBP immigrant household goods-so I won't go into detail.

We came together from England. Thinking about the form (like you are now), I called the CBP Supervisor for IAH (Houston) and asked about the need for lists or values. Also wondered if there was a problem if my luggage and form was clearly not my belongings but my fiance's. We had four checked bags plus allowed carry-ons between us. He said use one form as a family unit and write "household goods" on it. No lists or values.

FYI- things you ship or mail are "unaccompanied goods" as in not with you on the plane. Those generally need an inventory list and a photocopy of your visa for ease of clearing customs should they be inspected.

Seems the Visa systems wont even be working till next week, some people are going to have to reschedule their appointments. Hoping to god i don't get rescheduled. My interview is Monday. If i do get rescheduled, i guess i at least get to go home to my fiance until my new interview. Just want this visa nightmare to be over.

UPDATE: We continue to address technical problems with our visa systems. Public and private sector experts are working around the clock to correct the problem, but we do not expect the system will be online before next week. Some visa applicants will experience delays in receiving their visas. Others will be contacted directly to reschedule their appointments. If you have urgent humanitarian travel needs, you should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

For the full text of our latest update, please visit our website.

We do understand this is affecting your travel, and we apologize. Please understand that we cannot respond to individual case inquiries via social media platforms. Please visit the website of your local embassy/consulate for location-specific information, and contact the embassy or consulate where you applied for your visa if you have questions about your individual case or if you would like to retrieve your passport until your visa can be printed. We will continue to post updated information as it becomes available.

Oh my goodness! I literally cannot believe this. My interview is meant to be this Tuesday. I desperately hope they do not reschedule me. I never fail to be surprised by the incompetence of government systems in the United States

I'm hoping that because our appointments are so close, we wont be rescheduled. I think we have that going for us at least.

Sorry to be a miserable git but the closer interviews may well be the ones rescheduled due to the need to free up space/not add pending approved visas to the pile :/

I believe they are only rescheduling interviews if the ds-160 was filed on or after June 9th. Otherwise, you can still attend your interview.

Just a warning ByterMoon, you cannot get married before your visa is approved.. that will void the entire process. Your K1 would be cancelled and you would have to refile for a CR1 visa. Just want you to be careful! :)

From what I read on the U.S. embassy's website, it seems those non-immigrants that have submitted the DS-160 after June 9th may have their appointments rescheduled. As you are categorised as an immigrant, and submitted the DS-260 during the NVC stage way before June 9th, I pressume your appointment should not be rescheduled. This is the reasoning I am applying to my situation too, to give me hope that my appointment will not be changed either.

Yeah, sorry should have been clearer. Meant that I would do the ceremony we have booked and planned for, without the actual court marriage bit (Its more like a celebration of us, than a wedding add nothing official will be signed or filed). I'd do the actual official courthouses marriage when I was approved. We are having a fun, family, wedding event for the ceremony. Was always going to do the courthouse before the wedding event. But that could change with this happening.

Thanks for your concern though!

Just to lift the mood... especially for any fellow December K1 filers... just threw the receipt number into the case status on the USCIS website expecting the same old 'my case was received' thing I've seen over the past 6 months and it's only gone and been approved! NOA 2 at last!
