We'd LOVE to do Hawaii for our honeymoon! Hoping we will be able to squirrel enough money away to afford it! It looks amazing!

I've only just graduated, and like you, saw no point in getting a permanent position only to have to abandon it so I currently do two things.

1) I am a regional interviewer for 'Camp America'

2) I describe houses that are for sale so that 'audio tours' of the property can be created. I've had this job since the start of uni and it's great because I can do it from anywhere! All I need is my laptop and an internet connection.

I am looking forward to having a 'real' job though!

Thanks Gary! I hope the rest of the process for you all is as quick as possible, and smooth too!

That's an interesting collection of jobs you have! Do they pay well? What did you study at Uni? Yeah, I'm looking forward to being in a place where I know I won't have to lie and get a job I want!

----

Oooh, I just checked my CEAC update and it was updated today! Must mean the medical results got there :). Exciting!

It's better than doing something mundane for minimum wage purely because it's so flexible, but I'm never going to make my fortune doing either of them lol

Oooh that is exciting! I hope my appointment letter arrives soon!

Fingers crossed it'll be soon! I know it won't happen but it'd be pretty sweet if we got our interviews on the same day!

You know this process is getting to you when you have dreams that you forgot to fill out some imaginary form and begin to panic >_<. Apparently I desperately needed to fill out form I-224?! It was a form that went between the medical and interview, so weird! When I woke up I was so relieved that I didn't have any more paperwork to do

Sounds like a nightmare! Last night I dreamt that I went into a changing room and when I came out three hours had passed, all my friends had left me, the building was closed, it was dark outside and I didn't know where I was.

It's not relevant, but it does highlight my stress lol

I was really hoping you would have an interview date scheduled by today. What date did you put on your form that you wanted to travel? I know you had even offered to take a short notice cancellation interview. Hope you get good news soon.

Awh thanks sweetheart, I am feeling a bit glum! I think I put Feb 26th or thereabouts.

I did get a response to my email asking about the possibility of a short notice cancellation interview today and all they asked was what my UK address is. Maybe that's hopeful? I am in Cornwall but there is a direct flight from here to London which is under an hour so I really would only need 24 hours notice (which is what I said in my reply). Keeping my fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed for you. I know you were hoping to have everything done so you could fly out for your fiance's sister's wedding. Hopefully they will squeeze you in on a cancellation. So will you still fly out for the wedding and go back for the interview if you don't have the visa yet? I hope it doesn't come down to that :( We booked flights and a hotel last night for my fiance since he's flying from Edinburgh. Even with him having his interview on the 20th I don't think he'll have his visa in hand by the 1st of March.

Yes I will still go for the wedding (if they let me through immigration) as Im desperate to be there! Most people seem to have their visa in hand within about five working days from London at the moment but obviously I'd be taking a gamble if I went as late as the 20th. I don't have flights booked yet but Id really rather not have an anxiety ridden week of visa anticipation if I can avoid it!

Still no change to my CEAC yet! :clock:

Started my temp job today, woah boy, it's overwhelming. I'm working in the NHS booking appointments based on referrals and they're so far behind that it's hard to know where to begin. I also had to learn what I need to do depending on who emails...it's a lot to take in on day 1!

I had a bit of a stomach bug in the last week too. It was very painful to eat and I completely lost my appetite. I'm still finding it difficult to eat, but it's getting better.

Some good news for you Brits-- my husband (from Coventry) and I just got our green card approval today!

I wrote down our experiences from here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/534975-successful-aos-interview-los-angeles-green-card-issued/

Nich-Nick helped out on the k1 side of the things- the British embassy ROYALLY (pun intended) f*cked us over during that process. They lost our documentation from Dec 2013- May 2014, and even had my husband come in for an interview for the K1 that wasn't at all necessary and lead us to believe he had been approved when actually they thought we'd abandoned the application! Only after talking to everyone on VJ did I realize they had made a huge mistake, and I hounded them for days until I spoke to someone high up at the Embassy who personally looked over my case (while making horrible insinuations that my husband had been lying to me, didn't want to come to America, etc) to see my husband had resubmitted all the stuff they had lost. In the end, it took about a year from filing until his approval for the K1.

His POE in the US was Ft Lauderdale (I had an emergency with my grandparents and he flew over to help as his POE) and his entry was smooth sailing. Got married on 9/12/14 and sent off the AOS on 10/4/14. Got NOA on 10/28/14, biometrics in the first few weeks of November, and then got mailed the EAD/AP card on 12/20/14.

Then had our interview today!

My advice would be- keep in touch with the US embassy in London. They sent mail to the wrong address, even after we had it changed, lost our paperwork, and were nasty. Calling the NVC hotline was extremely unhelpful. I just pestered the embassy daily until someone spoke to me!

Check your status online all the time. Be vigilant!

But it will work out. :) :) <3

For Shana Mike and others:

Bank accounts can usually be linked, providing you stay with the same bank. What this does is it allows you to use one account (or a combination) to fulfill the balance or income requirements for free banking, so that you don't have to maintain a minimum balance in each of your individual and joint accounts to avoid fees.

Once you are married, you should use joint accounts for all day to day expenses and to receive salaries where possible, since having an inactive joint account isn't very useful when it comes to later stages like removal of conditions and citizenship.

Oh, and I recommend you ask questions like this in separate threads. This thread seems to mostly be K1-related chat, and it's only by chance that I bothered reading through it.
