@Pilot - I have also seen a very cheap flight on Norwegian Airways out of Prague. If you are willing to Easy Jet to Prague (around 60 pounds) and then fly from there, I think there would be some savings. Atleast it is a good deal for going to the Bay Area.

I have seen it for about $400 USD which is insane. It is a very indirect flight though, hence the cheaper cost.

Aer Lingus is also reasonable! I have flown that before for ~ $800 USD.

Which airport are you flying to? Do you mind indirect? We almost always find better fares with indirect. It can be a pain if you have a long layover, but it can also save you some decent money.

ABZ to OMA preffered. but will also go to MSP or DSM or SUX

17th of june departure

and i dont mind direct flights, as long as i dont touch CDG ever

Oh I hear you on CDG! No argument from me.

Are you locked into the one specific day or can you be flexible by a day or two either side? That makes a difference. Also make sure you clear your cookies after a session of searches. I usually book directly with the airline, but I run my searches on Kayak, Travelocity, Netflights and the airlines' own as well. Another trick that has had some success a few times is to look on the .com sites in US$. Sometimes the prices on the same site are different depending on where they think you are.

ill try kayak. and im looking for $ sites anyway as weve given the cash to her dad and using his credit card

the reason i hate cdg is cause in 2013 when i was returning from the states, i got off plane and asked the lady in orange blazer where to go while showing her my connection ticket, she directed me to a long line which ended up being the passport control and exit. by the time i got back in id missed my connection and air france refused to give me a boarding pass for a flight saying it wqasnt their fault as that pady was airport staff not airline staff.

andanytime from the 11th to 20th of june. id rather not fly to european countries on a cheap fare then get a ticketed booked flight, i get scared too much can go wrong

Ah you're ABZ! Me too! ABZ connections stink making it expensive, if you search from Edinburgh (EDI) or Glasgow (GLA) you can open yourself to more deals (you might just have to bear and grin the loooong train journey down there). I've flown EDI to NYC and then onwards via united, got the job done.

You might need to allow 3-4 hrs for connection in america though if indirect. Immigration line plus the K1 might equal a bit more of a wait, though I think it's easier to get the next flight if it's a regular connection.

like wbeem said, Kayak is one of my fav's that I use. Also connecting via Europe is also an option as someone else suggestion, even flying BA from CPH via LHR I have seen can save 20-50% - opps just re-read your post, saw you didn't want to do this.

Or you pay for a return ticket and skip the return part. I'm looking at flights to Houston next month and they are £630 with BA, from ABZ too.

I'm not sure you'll get cheaper, especially with it being June.

If you can fly to Kansas City I noticed you can save a bit there, just have a 2-3hr drive, probably only useful if you are South of OMA.

Opps - that came out really badly, Kansas City is around 880 bucks. OMA is around 1010 bucks. You can do a 3 day search where you get a table of prices, just click on show flexible dates. For OMA I think you pretty much are looking at a 1000, priceline.com is matching that too.

Hi Pilot

Congratulations on getting the visa in hand. that didn't take too long :)

Regarding flights, I forgot to ask if you've looked at flying via Dublin with Aer Lingus. I've never got good prices with them, possibly because of my routes and dates (they only fly certain routes on certain days) but sometimes multiple airlines and code shares offer better deals too. Another thing I forgot is that in December I saved a lot on our (still very pricey) flights booked on prime dates over Christmas and New year and did it through eBookers with a discount code and through Topcashback, which paid out £35 quite promptly. I'm in flight search mode now too so I'm happy to run your dates and airports through while I'm doing mine. It might keep me off the CEAC for a few hours, which is a good thing!

No idea about the embassy sticker - someone who's got their visa would be able to tell you.

You have your passport with a visa in it. You are DONE with embassy in London. You don't need their sticker. It's the same concept of removing old baggage claim tags from you luggage once you reach your destination.

Pilot- when they dropped off your visa, did you have to sign for it? Kas is having his delivered to his work. I gather you never received any communication with the courier, either?
