Well so far I have felt okay about it and haven't felt on the spot, but there will probably be times I will though, I can imagine he probably felt awkward when people would keep asking things. I didn't mean our kids will have my accent or that they must talk British English, I mean I would love them to know both as that way they will learn about where Mum is from as well as being American. I know they will want to fit in at school it is expected and normal, I am happy for us to do both our traditions and holidays, it is going to be wonderful and very fun! Yeah kids and young teens do take on the accent quickly and sometimes adults do as well, probably over time I will either do the accent on occasions but I do feel I will keep my british one as well. Haha lol yeah it will be freezing to be outside long in November.

James swears that he will not change his English ways or speech in order to fit in and that we will all have to adapt. I do wonder how my 11 and 8 year olds will convince him. lol. As far as the weather I am afraid he will have to adapt to the heat fairly quickly not having lived through a Florida summer before.

I don't think that was necessary. It is hardly her fault that her journey wasn't as long as ours. I understand your frustration but do try and respect others right to be happy.

Next event will be EAD/AP approval in May/June-ish.

Moving right along......

:D

Not being funny, but she never waited in the first place. 4 days to noa2. Notification of noa2 before paper copy of noa1 was received.

I think you are being rather funny actually! Hilarious in fact. You've stumbled across a forum designed for people in the same situation to give each other help and advice and accidentally mistaken it for a place where you can snipe at strangers and display feelings of bitterness! Whoops! Don't worry though, it's an easy mistake to make :)

Oh and if it's any consolation, during those four days I'd just had all of my wisdom teeth out so I was in a lot of pain. Hopefully this will make you feel a little better! :) Good luck with the remainder of your visa journey, I hope the process goes a little quicker now that they are doing transfers to CSC.

I don't think that was necessary. It is hardly her fault that her journey wasn't as long as ours. I understand your frustration but do try and respect others right to be happy.

Thank you :)

Please don't been mean. If you have read this thread you know that Pheebs has received enough harsh words for something neither she or any of us have control over. Would it have helped if she never filled out her timeline? Be happy to know that sometimes someone wins the visa version of the big jackpot lottery.

We are happy for you Pheebs and Dan!!!!

Naughty.

I don't even expect people to be happy or say congratulations, but sniping at them is not appropriate. Are you the one who asked Pheebs to remove her timeline because it upset you? Somebody in the K1s did that. Unbelieveable.

Yep my kids will probably teach me how to talk lol

Yeah my Fiance understands everything I say and I understand everything he says. I know he enjoyed some of the british cooking when we went out to eat in England and I am really enjoying all the American food I have eaten so far, we had beef steak with his parents yesterday night, delicious.

I can tell his parents are enjoying learning from me and his dad loves to joke around about british accent and he seems to think at the moment that people still say pip pip and cheerio, yeah it's not common anymore, I said that was more the 50s and 60s era. That's great to hear that November will be a great time for bonfires and my fiance already told me we can grill/ barbeque as well.

Congrats on the wedding countdown!

I think if you ever order something some people might just stare at you a bit before the words begin to sink in! I found that, they'd be taken back a little that someone wasn't American. Most of the time I found people acted like they'd seen a ghost for a split second before realising it, but some people are really friendly and start asking where I'm from. I'm sure they will know both variations with a British mum! I'm positive it will be fun :). You will if anything get a twang. I know when my fiance lived here he picked up some intonations and slang words. Mainly swearing!

Well April 11th is just the ceremony. My mom is a registered officiant, so she's marrying us. Literally the two of us, my mom and dad, and two witnesses. We are skyping his parents in to watch. :) And then a large BBQ reception in July at our place on the Mississippi. :)

Wonderful! That is so personal that your Mum will be marrying you, how lovely. Do you have a dress? Hehe, Skype wedding!

Not being funny, but she never waited in the first place. 4 days to noa2. Notification of noa2 before paper copy of noa1 was received.

Woohoo, congrats, I'm awarding you 10 points for observation! In all seriousness though, there was no need to be bitter. This thread is for people to talk and to exchange updates of their progress. Being snarky just isn't welcome. Pheebs is a wonderful person who has done so much to help people in the community, she has shared her knowledge with others in need. Even when you asked her to remove her timeline from her signature, she did it and was actually genuinely concerned that she had offended others. I personally told her that she should have ignored you, but she's a better person than me, and this is how you repay her kindness? She had no control over her approval time just like you or I didn't either. She has always expressed that it is insanely unfair the wait TSCers are going through, as have I. Just be careful, the people you're ticking off now are the people who could help you when you get your NOA2. Which, considering there have been a lot of transfers, could be (and hopefully will be) very soon. You are welcome here, but if you're going to use your energies to put others down then just don't bother.

James swears that he will not change his English ways or speech in order to fit in and that we will all have to adapt. I do wonder how my 11 and 8 year olds will convince him. lol. I like James ;). Oof...yeah...us English roses don't always do well in warmer climates. When I moved to Japan in the middle of the summer (smart move Shana) I was not a happy bunny! I actually felt more at home over there when it rained! What's a Florida winter like?

Slightly off topic, but for those interested.

While I'm a huge fan of assimilating into US culture (hey if you're going to live somewhere that isn't England, don't complain it isn't England.) I did recently find a site to get some creature comforts of home. http://www.britsuperstore.com/ from Haribo to Custard creams they have pretty much everything that you may miss, for what appears to be an okay price.

Thanks for sharing the find Gary! I've found a Brit store in Houston on my current trip so I have answer for any British "needs" I get too! Also a good way of sharing a bit of our own culture with our family which is important for them to know where we all come from and grew up, even if it's sharing the marmite "love it or hate it decision" :)

Fine, yall win. I'll lay off. But I won't stop being upset at the travesty and unfairness of the situation Texas filers are in. here's hoping the transfer actually helps November(maye October too? Or at least power through the rest of august and September after the transfer) and onward, unfortunately you'll still always have people like wbeem and Jerry who have waited over 200 days. 220 something days wbeem waited, then I look over and see 4. yeah, I'm done on this subject.

Here's my progress: Just got back from a visit, my first time in Europe. He officially proposed and his mother threw us an engagement party. We had been apart for 4 months, the longest since we first met. It was the hardest I've ever done, I was super depressed and kept getting worse as time went on. I described it as my heart literally breaking as time went on and I forgot what it felt like to be with my soulmate. I buried myself in work and barely had the energy to take care of myself otherwise. I hope the rest of our wait goes better than that since we won't go more than 2 or 3 months again.

I've made sure of that by spending over $800 on a flight for him to come in May for 2 weeks. In a couple more weeks I'll spend another ~$1500 on my second flight out to Europe for a last and final visit before he moves here (we are hoping to shoot for October the latest unless we wait 200+ days, which might push us out to November. An entire year of our lives! I value this year as much as I would as 10 with this person, so don't tell me that once this year is over and we are together that I will just forget about this #######.

So, out over $2000 on extra flights. Hanging on to the last shred of hope that TSC does the right thing and makes a huge transfer to CSC, and that those petitions are processed within their 5 months.

whatever, thanks for reading or not reading my rant.

Hey Stef, I read it, I'm sitting at Houston airport now just left my fiancée and her son, I totally hear you on the emotional turmoil, it's causing so much pain with not knowing dates so inability to plan anything when houses, wedding, children schools etc are at stake is frustrating as hell, especially in an unfair system. People have always said you'll get there and look back and it'll be a "small" blip, they are right but it doesn't help now! I have nothing to advice as there's no answer for our pain right now than to count ourselves lucky we found a loved one who we are literally going through pain to get ourselves together. I feel your pain 100%, but I know if I dont stay strong even if I eat myself up on the inside then it'll only affect my loved ones. It's the only way i can deal with it and I'm not suggesting it will help you, more that we have no other choice than to stay strong and keep plodding along with this awful process. My expectations are low with this process even with the recent announcement as that could mean anything. I think back on my last two weeks and count myself lucky I have met such an amazing fiancée and an amazing mother in bringing up her son and that really is the only way I can deal with all this now. I share as it may help, it may not, but we are all here together and I think I have witnessed some amazing people on this forum.

I too just spent an extra $1500 on a flight to London this summer bc TSC. So yeah, I'd rather use that money on the honeymoon or a car for Daniel but I don't get to. I took Daniel to the airport last night and I've eaten 3 donuts and half a bag of tortilla chips today. So that's progress.... To my expanding waistline. Whatever.

And you guys have no clue bc you haven't been there, but stef has done more for the TSC cause than almost everyone on this forum currently. She's worked, called, emailed extensively to bring awareness to the issue. She's done it all to help others knowing that if change came from it, it might be too late to even help her own case. So yes, i129fs are being transferred. We still don't know who yet though. And guess what... Stef's representative was the biggest congressional driver behind our complaints. We believe the efforts were heard.

Hopefully we hear more next week, I just hope that it doesn't mean more delay in the transfer batch. We never heard anything back from our follow ups from USCIS HQ. We have another government contact from a family member so going to follow that up next week anyway. Defiantly had enough of wasting money and trapped in metal tubes for hours.

I am thrilled and terrified at the same time. I feel a sense of accomplishment that we made an impact and that hopefully this means that others are pushed along more quickly and things become more fair. But I'm pretty scared that I'm too far along in the wait and the transfers will be for ppl after me. Last time TSC slowed down an additional 60 days following the transfer and I don't wanna be left even further behind.
