I have been here almost 3 days now in Minnesota and it is freezing, but I am so happy that my fiance and I have closed the distance!Today he finished worked at 9pm, I text him completely forgetting I can now call him on my new mobile he got me, silly me lol I am so used to skype chats and whatsapp it didn't cross my mind.

has anyone else had that happen to them when you first arrived in America or anything else similar?

I am trying to teach myself to say the America words or pronunciation, my Fiance teased me yesterday that I said to him at the restaurant "I am all full up" he said it is just "I am full"

I enjoy making fun of how he talks as well though.

I remember when my fiance started living in the same town as me and I never got used to bumping into him having spent 6 years only being able to speak to him online!

Hey you, don't you be forgetting your heritage! You need to teach those Americans the correct words and pronunciation!! :P I am stubborn and proud so I'll never try to change the way I talk, haha. I get teased a lot but I find it amusing.

No, but the wedding is April 11th. We have to apply for the license by the 6th. I know that doesn't seem to be close, but I don't want any complications. We are booking his flight the day he gets his passport, for the next possible flight.

I'm sure you guys will be fine! You've got another 2 weeks yet and I'm sure you'll be getting an email either today or Monday I'm guessing. I know how on edge you must feel with a date being set, but you are so close it's on its way! :)

Ok, enough of being yelled at in monthly forum thread for being extremely fortunate.

I will hang out here and wait patiently for our file to be transfered to NVC :clock: if I am welcome.

Thank you Shana :)

Nothing terrible, just people are angry because they have waited so very long in Texas. I fully understand and expected to be still with them, but its really not my fault I got let off after 174 days instead of 220.

Anyway I hope the transfer of files helps speed things up for everyone still waiting.

Welcome! I have to say that if you have not read thru this thread then I recommend that you do. Pheebes, Vicks, Shana, Nich-Nick, Chris, and all the other great folks have provided a wealth of information for the process after NOA2. I felt so good about the initial package because there was so much information. I now feel just as prepared for the next bits as well.

Good luck on your journey!

Thank you so very much! We are very excited..and yes I have read this thread, and most of the others lol during my wait. I feel so very much less stress about the other steps in the process than I would if I were going in without a clue.

Don't worry about those people complaining about the service center waits. In the end, we all get to be with our loved ones one way or another.

Also, we got the email today. The visa should be delivered Monday. He should fly home Tuesday. We weren't expecting an 11 day wait, but that's how you get averages right? Some people wait 2 days, some wait 11. :P

I am sorry you had to deal with that. I recently fell to a VSC's (Spousal Visa Filer) trolling on here, too. I don't know why I was a lucky participant... but I suppose that's how the cookie crumbles. Everyone in this thread predominantly keeps their baggage at the door, which is nice and refreshing.

Ah yes, there's definitely a lot of tension with the people still waiting. It's tough for them, I don't think it justifies them slamming other people, but I know there are people who are genuinely sick of the waiting and it would make any sane person cranky.

Congratulations on your approval! I bet you are over the moon!!

Aw, thanks for mentioning me! I still consider myself a bit of a newbie but I try to help where I can. I'm glad you're feeling prepared!

I bet you're a bit of a pro with what happens next! He got his vaccination records printed too, yes? Are you going to be go, go, go with the medical when you get your case number?

I didn't, after responding once to him and defending myself, his retaliation just led me to believe that I wasn't going to win the argument. So, instead of feeding the fire, I took the oxygen away. /metaphor

Things are going good for us, we're both just anxious like a couple of nervous cats. He's starting to get really worried about the interview-he doesn't like that our future is hanging in the balance of some consular officer. I keep telling him that he knows me, and that he will be fine--who knew we would switch roles in terms of worry-wart and comforter?!

Less than two weeks--I can hardly wait!

haha yeah I am stubborn too I told my fiance months ago before I even came, that in our household I am always going to talk the british way. I dont have the guts to in public though to be that bold and speak british words or prounciations as it is frustrating not being understood, yesterday I went to subway and I couldnt bring myself to say toe mate o instead of toe mart o lol so I didnt have any in my sandwich. Yeah so in public i mostly feel I must talk American and at home british as I love my heritage, our future kids are gona speak both and brought up to know both ways to speak and learn everything about both countries. If I had my way and if winters werent terrible here I would celebrate 5th november still, maybe we still will but without fireworks.

I am looking forward to 4th of July though and labour day and easter and thanksgiving!

aww I am sorry that happened to you, I found out more recently that we were at tsc as well but quickly got transferred to csc back in july last year and our petition was approved after 3 months when we thought it would take 5 at least. Everyone has a different experience and I am sure NVC will receive it soon and then mail it to the embassy good luck with everything!

yeah some people are bitter because of the waiting at tsc and I think they shouldn't take it out on other people, its nobody's fault how fast or slow the process is and we just have to hang in there. It took 9 months in total before I was finally with my fiance in America, I am here now and I am loving it and I am so happy! Yeah it's not your faut you got lucky, it just happens that way sometimes.
