Americans don't know what tea is, it's like drinking extremely diluted tea that's been sitting out for days.

The day I found Pg tips in a Walmart was a happy day indeed!

oh no by the sounds of it I am going to have to import real British Tea I love twinings, I can imagine now the American one will be bland.

Every visit to the UK I will have stockpile loads of bags of twinings and PG tips into my Suitcase on the way back lol.

I can't believe America doesn't have yorkshire puddings and cornish pasties lol

I tried the twinings English breakfast and it's just really not the same. I find it so weak and tasteless. It's like Cadbury, Americans have sugar as the first ingredient not milk like us, so I reckon they've done something else to the tea leafs unlike the British.

Unknowing to me, I bought 2 boxes of PG tips from Walmart before Christmas, and then my family sent me two massive boxes, best Christmas ever!

I'm still suffering on branston pickle and bourneville chocolate.

They do sell Taylor's of Harrogate tea, and these are directly imported, so they are not weakened versions. They also sell imported PG tea. So if Twinings is too weak for you, there are some options.

Sod the tea, I'm more worried about chocolate! I know there was another thread on chocolate but I will really miss British chocolate. Galaxy is my favourite, and no, Dove does not taste the same! ;_;

I'm already managing expectations with my parents in clearly communicating the expectations of food parcels of Marmite,twiglets, coffee, chocolate, tea, chutney, cheese and various other things.

I must have good coffee, Starbucks is OK but I'm too much of a coffee snob. And the half and half stuff oh gosh who in america invented that! gone off milk tastes better! Though I'm so looking forward to Mexican and Texan food, I need to run a marathon a week to prevent myself getting fat.

There's a burger place where I'm going to live, it's my ultimate favourite burger. Calorie wise it's my entire days allowance...not to mention the fries and pop I have with it. It'll be my once in a while treat!! I'm going to train for a half marathon to counter act all the delicious food there is, rob - you're right...can't wait for Mexican food!

Rob--If you are In Houston, you will find most things you want. Many British items like Marmite, mustard, Branston Pickle, teas are in the grocery stores Kroger and HEB. You can buy imported cheeses, but HEB brand Artisan Cheddar is a cheaper alternative my husband has settled on. World Market carries things and there are two British Markets who sell online but you can shop in the store also. Don't know what area you will be in, but check out --

The prices are import prices so don't expect them to be cheap as you get in the UK. But it won't be cheap for your parents to mail items either.

Yeah me too, my fiance sent me loads of chocolate for Easter last year and it was so sweet, they definitely do add more sugar and less milk. I may import from buying my favourite British Food online from amazon etc.

I will find the sweetness of the chocolate difficult at first for sure.

You'll find more British in Kroger Signature Stores than HEB. And fancier parts of town will have more than other Kroger's.

The stock varies at those British places. I get an email saying "new arrivals" when they get new stock at Goodwood's. They don't carry much in Chocolate during the summer because it would melt shipping out from TX. They are an internet business, but locals can shop at the warehouse or order online and pick up with no shipping charge. British Isles has a big store front and carry a lot more merchandise.

There are lots of internet places, even Amazon where you can find things and have them shipped. These two I mentioned to Rob because he could go in person. We rarely go to either because my husband is pretty much over needing British things except his Colman's mustard and Branston pickle which are in the grocery stores. But we did spend almost $100 at Christmas buying Christmas cake, candies, mince pies and such as a holiday treat.

I might stomp my feet for a while, but it's probably better for me for there to not be delicious British chocolate around all the time. I'm sure my Mum will send me care packages full with chocolate every so often!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, I'm getting a bit antsy now it's so close! Itching to get my flight booked. I could go ahead and book it since it's probably going to be April 20th, but I want to be extra safe.
