UK VJers Progress Update Thread

Wish we could edit our posts, it would be a good thing to put in the first post that this is more of a chat/progress update thread than a place for serious inquiries. Not that asking a question in here is necessarily bad, I know I have, but in Pilot's case this is something that needs it's own thread. I saw this today though, Pilot, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/538454-passport-renewal/seems someone is in a similar situation? Have you tried calling the passport people too to see if they can send you an updated one with the same passport number? Because it sounds like an error on their end than yours. I take it they've put:

- Surname Middle

- First

Instead of:

- Surname

- First Middle

Right?

Kas had his medical exam yesterday and the doctor was pleased with his results. He'll require a 10 year booster in 6 months. Unfortunately, they wouldn't give it to him yesterday, so we either pray he'll be here within that 6 months and we file for AOS, or we'll have to bite the bullet and pay for a civil surgeon.... Ho hum. Could be worse!

He was as complete as medically possible on the date of record and should have the waiver reason marked "insufficient time interval". That is good for AOS as long as it's not a year before you file, at which time the medical will be expired for AOS purposes and he would need another exam.

Ah! That's brilliant. Thank you! We want to file as soon as possible-he's already dreading that he won't be contributing for ~2-3 months while we wait for ead/ap.

Congrats Chris (And Kas too, of course) How did he find the medical appointment to be? Glad to hear that you guys are progressing well.

As far as the vaccinations go, I spoke to my GP surgery yesterday and apparently I have had....

- MMR (x 2?)

- Polio

- Diptheria

- Pertussis/Whooping Cough

So, am I correct in saying that I just need the Tetanus shot? Would that be Tdap?

Also, because I'm expecting to have my medical before the end of March, I will need the Flu jab too, right?

I have an appointment with the Practice Nurse on Tuesday where she said she could go through everything I need, so just want to make sure I'm all clear for her. I just need a copy of my vaccination history, with dates next to them all & then signed by the doctor?

Thanks for any advice!

He said it went as fine as those things go, we didn't get a chance to really discuss it yesterday as he was on his way to visit a friend of ours in Germany this weekend.

But he was in and out within 45 minutes.

Once I get a full report from him, I will revert the information to the board. :)

As far as flu jab, you will need to get one done before your medical.

I'm a bit worried about that too! Especially since we'll be living with his parents to begin with, one of whom isn't my biggest fan! I find when living with people who have jobs they can become a bit resentful and make jabs about being unemployed, but in this case we really can't work so it's not our fault. I'd avoid saying things like "Oh, well, at least you don't have to wake up early for work!" even if it's not meant to be nasty it can feel like a blow. I want to make myself useful around the house and do what I can to feel like I have some sort of job in a way, as well as making new friends. Sounds like things are coming along nicely for you! :)

You'll need a flu jab :). They do them in Asda for cheap, think it's £7? The vaccination list doesn't NEED to be signed, mine was literally a crappy looking print out  but it was accepted! Dates are key though, I know Pheebs had issues because some of her shots didn't have dates by them. As for the appointment, it takes a while and involves a fair bit of waiting, I was in for about 1 hour from start to finish. All the doctors were fine, very to-the-point which I really don't mind. Check the information thread on the UK forum for a list of shots, it's all there and it's what I went off!

Woohoo!!! Did you get a "welcome to america"?!
