My husband had his physical exam in London today. I thought surely crossing this piece off the list would put him a little more at ease since he is very anxious. However, he is an absolute nervous WRECK. There is a question on the medical form that says have you ever caused deliberate damage OR had trouble with the law because of a mental condition OR under the influence of alcohol or drugs? He left it blank to discuss with the doctor because he has had "trouble with the law" while "under the influence of alcohol." During university, he and some friends were out drinking. One of his friends punched a cab driver and they all ran away. The next day the police arrested all of the boys. Since my husband didn't do anything, he was never charged or prosecuted or sentenced or anything. Minor mishap if you ask me. Anyway, he has been freaking out about this stain on his record throughout the whole process (we started paperwork in January 2014, for reference). So there's that. Then he told the doctor how much he drinks (quite a few drinks once a week) and the doctor said in the US that qualifies as binge drinking. Why on earth would this doctor say that? Is that a warning of some kind? Surely the US doesn't prevent immigrants who like to legally party every now and then from entering the country? Lastly, my husband tested for high blood press and has to get some kind of note from his GP now. Has anyone else experienced this?

All in all, my husband is seriously losing his mind. There is seemingly nothing I can say to calm him down and it sucks we aren't together so I can't just give him a hug. He is BEYOND stressed out and I just need something, anything to calm him down. His interview is March 10. He is about as normal of a person as it gets. I see no reason why everything won't go smoothly but he won't listen to me. So now I am getting stressed out. It's just all an emotional nightmare at this point. If anyone has any stories of weird hiccups at the physical that turned out to be nothing or recent success stories during the interview even if you were a nervous wreck, please share with me so I can share with my husband.

Why not introduce him to this website and allow him to post here? I've gotta say, I was a bit panicky about the entire process at the beginning but when I started to post here regularly and read a lot of information in other threads it really started to ease my mind. He's probably feeling very alone in the process since he's the one jumping through all the hoops, so that's why he's working himself up so much. So bring him on in here and we can share his concerns and put his mind at ease!

Since your husband has been to the medical, he'll have had his UK police certificate, did it say No Trace or No Live Trace? As for the drinking comment, I think it was just a case of the doctor being condescending...at least I'd like to think so.

Alcohol abuse falls under the Mental Health part of the exam. Read all the details here. http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/mental-panel-technical-instructions.html#screening-results

It sounds like a Class B condition, which is not an inadmissible condition. (Class A conditions require filing a waiver of inadmissibility). If the doctor thought it was an addiction or resulted in harmful behaviors, he would have sent him for psych exam or some type of follow up for treatment or periodic testing.

The blood pressure issue is resolved by his GP either reporting that his findings are that your husband's blood pressure was tested and within the normal range; or that he has prescribed treatment/meds to bring his BP into normal range.
