UK VJers Progress Update Thread

Hi all, finally got an update on the AOS, it was a referral for more information :(

They are asking for vaccination stuff I submitted my log from Knightsbridge, 99.9% sure I did anyways. The main 3 are dated.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

It's the same thing as always, where the USCIS doesn't think the DS3025 is good enough, they lost it, don't know about the rules for K1s and aren't going to be bothered to look, or are too busy playing Candy Crush to pay attention. Like most of us that get stuck with this problem (grrr Knightsbridge!), take your DS3025 copy or proof of vaccinations, and find a civil surgeon who will complete just the vaccination record portion of the I-693. Follow the instructions for the form about that specific portion/pages to fill out. The civil surgeon will give you it back in an envelope and that's what you send in for the RFE. You could also yell at them in your cover letter. :P Once you reply to the RFE it should be all for your case, and you'll be waived.. GC will be in the mail.

Not every CS apparently knows the rules, so if you can't find any willing to do the vax sheet only, there is a thread on the forum with a list of CS that may do it.

Okay bummer I was sort of hoping I was completely off base with the whole needing to get parts of the I-693 done.

Though that thread gives me hope. Even if it's back from 2009 and possibly changed, $25 for a CS in the Chicago area to do it sounds lovely.

Probably could find one closer, but I am in love with the Windy City and will always accept excuses to visit!

My local couple aren't on the list but thanks for the link it gave me some sort of idea on what the costs are.

I'll call them and see what quotes I can get.

The last bit on your message made me smile, fingers crossed this'll be the end of it, I'm really ready to get out and start working.

Did you request the SSN through the DS-260 or did you just call in? I requested one on the DS-260 but I'm hearing conflicting reports as to whether this was a good idea or not.

Congratulations on everything so far and hope you find a great job soon.

I requested mine through the DS-260. I did pop in to the SSA office but only to ask what I would need if I wanted to try and get it through them, and only because we were passing. They told me to wait ten days before they could even think about doing anything, and before I had the chance to go back and see them it had arrived in the mail.

I heard all the horror stories too, but in my case it worked exactly like it was supposed to.

Just got an appointment for the 25/10, what's another month when you've been waiting 4 already!!!

It'll cost $40.

Thanks for the help :)

Hey UK VJ'ers. Looks like another Approval gets to join this thread! Myself (Uk Beneficiary) and my Beautiful Fiance were approved today at the London Embassy. I could not have done this without the support of this incredible site, but a special mention without doubt goes to Nich-Nick as without them keeping my sane and giving me the advice i needed im not sure i would have been able to do this.

The interview was seamless and actually surprisingly enjoyable. I will update my Timeline and keep you posted on our journey.

thanks again everyone, from the bottom of our hearts.

Alas, we got an RFE. They asked for evidence that OKCupid is not an IMBRA. I was in the UK with Harry having our engagement celebrations with his family and friends when it arrived but I sent back everything I could think of as soon as I got home. Hopefully it satisfies them and everything goes smoothly from here forward. There is just so much waiting during this process it can be really demoralizing not knowing when your loved one can finally move and start a life with you.

Thank you all for letting me vent and I'll update my timeline and this forum as soon as I hear anything on the RFE :)

Did you send a copy of the website Ts and Cs? I'm not familiar with online dating sites but from what I've seen here a copy of the Ts and Cs usually does the trick. Good luck!

I agree about the waiting. We filed in February and are hoping for a late November interview and a December move. I was talking to my husband about waiting today and we both said the same thing. We feel like we are on either side of a locked door waiting for someone to bring the key to open it. We just wish the key holder would hurry up!

I did send a copy of the terms and conditions, I hope that does the trick! This website and the forum members have been such a source of information and support and have definitely saved me from moments of unnecessary panic.

The "key holder" is a perfect analogy, wishing you luck for a November interview and December move :)

Just wanted to post an update following my visa being issued, incase it can be of help to someone. I had a denial of entry in Feb this year and I was dreading my interview and how much I would be grilled on this, in al honesty they asked questions but did not make me feel bad over anything and just said ok that's fine!!!

It took 3 1/2 weeks from interview (Aug 19th) to the visa being in hand, the hold ups being 1) the missing copy of my fiancee's divorce certificate in the package from NVC and that being the only thing I had no copy of with me. 2) The Embassy lost the copy of my divorce decree which they took at the interview. 3) slow courier delivery and processing because of UK and US holidays on consecutive Mondays.

Sept 12th I received the email confirming my passport would be available at the Gatwick depot for collection the next morning. Booked my flight, collected the packet at 7.30am the next morning and headed straight to the airport for an 1140 flight.

Sept 14th we bought the marriage license

Sept 15th I went along to the SS office to get that organized - the guy didn't think I would be in the system that quickly but was happy to see I was!

Sept 21st went to the medical center to get immunization records signed off as chose to do it here rather than believe London telling me I needed shots - I did not need these and the Dr signed it off from the paperwork I had.

Sept 22nd - SSN arrived in the mail today

Sept 23rd - We're getting married :)

Filing for AOS on Tuesday

10 days on from arrival and the last 6 months seem like a distant memory, good luck to everyone, don't loose heart, it will happen.
