You have nothing on paper except a 90 day entry (I-94). Your visa is over and now invalid because you used it. It's not like a student or work visa that has several years validity or a spouse visa giving you greencard status. That's the problem.

Banks have their own laws from the government they have to comply with and one is identity of the customer. They have different requirements for immigrant and non-immigrant so they set up policies to avoid running afoul of the government. And a person with only 90 days to be in the country legally confuses them. Do go in person and do ask for a supervisor.

You'd have a better chance getting added to an established account with your spouse. And a joint account is a biggie to show at an AOS interview and submit when you remove conditions, so it helps your future immigration path.

Sorry my tone was so snappy and entitled, yesterday was just a horrible day. It really feels deflating when simple things you take for granted are kept out of range.

I got it all sorted this morning and now I get to look forward to getting a NYC ID card next week and go register with the Belgian consular in New York. Job search also continuing on - anything to not sit at home and think about that AOS wait haha

The frustration is understandable but that is often the fate of the K1 who is kind of a nothing until until the EAD card comes to prove you have a year in the US.

I wondered what happened to you, my Nebraska waiting-room friend.

When are you hoping to move? Has your husband been deployed again?

I am not sure when I am hoping to move. My husband posted everything yesterday. I have no idea how long it takes for NVC to complete a case once they received all the requird documents. What about you? Do you think that we could have an interview before Christmas? I haven't seen my husband since June.

We still don't know when he might deploy exactly but it should be around February time...

I have been feeling quite down lately to be honest :-(

I've managed to locate an update on my AOS, currently says they've received the fingerprint fee and a letter has been sent for the next step.

I have already been for the biometrics so I'm confused!!!

The web updates for AOS are far less reliable than the K1, some don't update until the file is approved and the card issued, mine stayed at RFIE sent from May 10th until AOS approved, it drove me crazy but EAD was approved fairly quickly and once I had that the stress disappeared.

I honestly expected to be waiting about a year for the green card so when it was approved and in my hands in 4 months I was amazed, very happy and relieved!

In other news I have been here 6 months now, my dog ran away for 8 days just after we arrived, have a drivers license, bank accounts, good credit rating,I managed to get lymes disease and have been really really ill ( given the health insurance a thorough testing), been to several different states and still loving it

My mum is here for a visit so busy dragging her everywhere :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Does anyone know if DX group delivers passports on Saturdays? CEAC changed to "issued" first thing yesterday morning but we still have not received tracking information. He is having a home delivery to York. Just want to know if there is any chance of him flying out Sunday or if we will have to wait until next week.

Random little question. Does anyone know if they are picky at all for the dates on the signature areas of AOS forms?

Basically we had everything printed and signed a few weeks ago and so the date for the signatures is a bit old, like August 18th or something. Then my joint sponsor ran into a snag with his employment letter and things got delayed.

Do I need to reprint and resign everything with a more current date before sending them in, or is it a non-issue?

I just received my EAD and AP approvals! Which is crazy - I was only just beginning to 'lean in' to being unemployed, taking advantage of Meetup.com... oh well!

After my realisation today (thanks to this forum) that I duffed up my own AOS packet by sending in the wrong form for my vaccinations this was especially welcome news.

I hope everyone's journeys are going well

No. They are less picky than you imagine.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi all, finally got an update on the AOS, it was a referral for more information :(

They are asking for vaccination stuff I submitted my log from Knightsbridge, 99.9% sure I did anyways. The main 3 are dated.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

So I thought i'd post another little update. I've been in the US now for just over two weeks and things have gone way quicker and smoother than I ever expected. I got my SSN just 10 days after arriving in the post. I am, as I type this, sat in the SoS office waiting to try and sort out my drivers license.

A week after arriving hubby and I got a second dog. An 8 week GSD who I am utterly obsessed with. And she keeps me well occupied until I can get a car and find a job. So far it has been amazing. I love my family-in-law and hubby has some great friends who have all been so welcoming.

Next thing is finding some work!

Did you request the SSN through the DS-260 or did you just call in? I requested one on the DS-260 but I'm hearing conflicting reports as to whether this was a good idea or not.

Congratulations on everything so far and hope you find a great job soon.

I have seen other posters who were given RFE's for this even though a complete DS-3025 is suppose to cover the medical requirements given it is still in date (one year I believe?).

Pretty sure you just have to bite the bullet and see a civil surgeon to get the vaccination related parts of the I-693 done. At least that's what I have been seeing. I will most likely be in the same boat as you since my fiance's DS-3025 was no marked complete as he was 18 when it happened and needed a certain vaccine that he no longer needs now. Will they be proactive enough to notice that and mark him off as complete? I doubt it since even people with "perfect" DS-3025's are getting RFE's.

That's a bit of a bite in the rear, oh well hopefully it won't cost the $300 I've seen quoted. Looked online and there's a couple relatively close by have to call them tomorrow they've all closed for the day.

Thanks for the info.

Again, I am just going by what I have seen here and there on the forums. I would make absolutely sure first that you sent everything correctly the first time. I believed Nich-Nick and some others helped someone with a similar issue so I would wait to hear from more people before dishing out any payments, but getting quotes and shopping around civil surgeons can't hurt :)
