Entry on the 22nd, Social Security Card issued 27th. Pretty quick!

That was quick! Did you request one through the DS-260 or did you just turn up at the SSA office and apply on the spot?

Do you get any kind of receipt showing you paid the NVC for the visa fee? Not sure how the spouse process works and surely that is in your file, but was just thinking K1s have to show they paid.

Do you have a letter stating your interview date? It might get you squared away faster in line.

Have fun!

"Oh yes. I have the print out of the confirmation of my visa application as that was done online, which includes fee payments. Plus I printed the letter/email from the NVC confirming my interview date."

What is this around the visa fee? There has been nothing stating about paying for this before the interview. We paid the $420 when the petition was lodged but nothing since. It says you pay the visa fee at the Embassy...

You paid the petition fee. Now you pay for the visa. Since you are DCF, you pay at the embassy. $325. The other spouse visa people who processed through the U.S., service center and NVC, already paid at the NVC stage.

Visa Applicants pay the fee to the Embassy cashier on the day of the visa interview. Fees may be paid in cash sterling or dollar equivalent; by International Money Order or Bankers Draft; Credit Card Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express; or Debit Card with the Visa logo. The Embassy does not accept any other credit or debit cards, or personal checks.

There is another fee spouse visa people will pay, after visa prior to entry or shortly after or your greencard won't be issued. $165

Congratulations! When are you planning to go?

Not until later in the month. Around about the 20th or soon after. Our one year wedding anniversary is on the 29th - so want to be in the USA by then. But I have some stuff to ship, and want to get that packed and on the way as soon as I can.

Just checked on CEAC and it was changed today to 'Issued' and said that my visa has been printed, so it just comes down to how long it takes for it to be sent out to the depot for me to collect.

I applied for my SSN at an SSA office less than 24'hours after entering the US on a K1 visa. No problem whatsoever and the card arrived a few days later.

Simon

And that's how it's supposed to work. You must have a good Social Security office that knows what they're doing.

Prenouveau--The two week wait was when the I 94 was a card filled out on the plane. Your entry is now automated by a scan of your passport. Your entry record should be fairly instantaneous.

To give everyone hope, I entered the US on a K1 visa Feb 21st 2016, we got married Feb 29th, sent AOS papers end of March and my green card arrived in the mail (after a RFIE for failing to sign the form) this Monday, no interview :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

My electronic entry record (I-94) was available online instantly after entering the US after arriving by plane. I checked the CBP's I-94 Arrival Record website whilst waiting for my bags and printed it off later that evening to take to the Social Security office the next day.

Also, yes... my Security Security office were pretty good! The city isn't exactly a hub though so I'm not sure how many K1s they get though. As soon as the card arrived in the post, I trundled back in to get my surname changed to my new married surname. it actually took longer for my replacement card (7 days) to arrive than my initial card (5 days). Extra efficient.

Picked up my passport and the visa packet today!

Interview was on Monday, so can't complain one bit about the London Embassy's efficiency.

Am so happy!

Just have to pay the last CR1 fee and then I will be all set. Shipping is due to be collected on the 15th, and I am looking at flights for about the 25th. So excited to finally get home to my hubby!
