One should never feel confident with USCIS for they are a bunch of idiots.

AOS is strange and much less predictable than the K1. For your i129f, I bet you had a pretty good idea when you would be approved and I assume it was fairly accurate. With AOS, you don't really have any way of knowing whether you're a waiver candidate or where your file is located (NBC still? your local office? a random field office?). Not everyone who is a waiver candidate gets a letter notifying them of such. Some waivers are approved in 3 months, others in 6, others in a year. Some people get interviews in 4-5 months, others a year. No way to predict. Lots of people lately are being approved without interview but receiving RFEs from offices across the country from their local field office.

Yeah I pretty much had everything set out with a good time frame on how long it would take, was spot on with when I would be over here. So I could be sitting on my rear for another long while been here since the start of March and I'm starting to get bored! Guessing the local office will be in Des Moines, unfortunately don't think Davenport will have one. Oh well I'm here which is the important thing.

I was someone who waited a year for an AOS interview and now 3 weeks has passed and no GC in sight. I was told by USCIS today to wait the usual X number of days (60 in this case) before I can do anything. *shrug* I'm just going through the motions at this point. Happy to be in America, happy I can work - K-1 felt much more stressful to me!

Only two weeks left until my fiance's POE! It feels like it's been forever since he was given his visa.

Interestingly enough I found out one of my colleagues personally knows the Chief CBP Officer for Chicago O'Hare, which will be where he has his POE.

I am sure nothing will go wrong, but now I have his contact info in case there are any issues, which is nice.

We went to the Civil Surgeon's office today. Quick easy and affordable. She knew exactly what to do, highly recommend Dr. Steinberg.

Out of curiosity for the recent people to receive their passport back, how long from 'issued' to the email from courier was it for you?

I feel exactly the same! I struggled terribly with the 10 month K1 ordeal. AOS was way less stressful, although less predictable.

Hey y'all, how long has it been taking people to get their NVC number after NOA2? Tomorrow will be 2 weeks from NOA2 for me, but in other progress threads it seems like 3 weeks has been the norm. Has anyone gotten theirs sooner than that, recently?

Are you calling them or just waiting for the NVC letter to show up?

CSC is often slow to send the case over to the NVC (and it may say it is sent online but not actually have been sent either), but once it is there, case number can take about a week or two, depending on how fast they are. I've noticed lately people have said it's slow again, so I'm guessing with all the case load, CSC is being tardy in sending them out.

NVC received our case 2 weeks after NOA2 (on a Friday), then we got the case number on the Monday.

No harm in trying to call. You can call as much as you like (provided you can get through) regardless of if they tell you to wait 30 days. The letter may never arrive, and if it ever does often the case is in London.. or you have the visa already.

Cool thanks guys! I will give it a try tomorrow. I know I need to ask for LND number, and isn't there another number as well? Presumably they know the drill...
