Sounds like a good plan!! I'm the same way with my fiance and actually I'm sitting in Terminal 5 at Heathrow about to head home from seeing him haha. For once I'm not a sloppy mess because I know by next week we'll know our result and on the 19th he'll be flying over if all goes well soooo I'm trying to kill time myself. This is the 'one' part of the process where I have absolutely no control over the outcome and it's killing me. I trust James to handle it, but deep in the pit of my stomach I wish I could be the little fly on his shoulder when he's in there answering all the questions he has to next week because there's NO way I can wait for the results. Luckily I'll probably be asleep still during his interview time and when I wake up the result will be there haha

After you get the NOA2, it's pretty much smooth sailing from there. The only major hurdle in my opinion is getting the affidavit of support and that's all dependent on what finances are available to you at the time and even that isn't so bad because before you even file your application, you know what's available to you. Feel free to poke me when you do if you have any questions!!! I've been pretty on top of our application since the time it was received by the NVC, so I feel like that helped getting to the interview stage as quickly as it did :)

It was roughly a month and a half from the time the Embassy received our paperwork to the time of our interview. And thanks! I'm sure I will...just waiting on gate announcement heh

That's honestly the best way to be--start prepping everything you need now. Get your vaccination reports from your doctor, and if you haven't been vaccinated for something you were supposed to, just have it done. And your police certificate, make sure you have proof of address since that's the major thing they need with the passport photos of varying sorts. And for the interview, start gathering proof of relationship between NOA1 to present (even though this isn't 'as' stressed as it was in the initial application) and have your fiance order anything he needs for proof of the affidavit of support like the letter from his bank and/or employer stating his funds and income. That way you can just bang all that out when the NVC has your application. Every little bit helps :D

It's a long process and from start to finish it's going to ultimately be a three year journey so we're all going to get pretty comfortable on here hahaha

We all remember what it was like to be at the beginning stages and a lot of us look back and wonder how we were so much of a wreck at the time lol

I do like this thread! Oh I'm not sure of this is of use or interest (and probably obvious) but somehow even with the amount we have been flying back and forth I hadn't thought about going from London to Machester (megabus £4.50) and then fly to America, perhaps it's different for different places but I fly in to LAX and it's about £100 cheaper than going from London, ofcourse you can always find good flights from London but it's worth keeping in mind!

I fly from Scandinavia. I usually don't pay more than £200 return to LAX. And for the UK-Scandinavia legs I use my air miles. Likewise for the domestics from LAX to Seattle. Next week I am going to Las Vegas and I've paid £180 return.

So the best I've found is London to Gothenburg for £10 then £301 return and then Gothenburg to London in total £320-330 which isn't so bad but it is taking you round the houses a bit

Wow, it has been a while since I was on here but it is fun to see so many new faces. I just wanted to say to everyone going thru the K-1 process that the end result is so worth it. The AOS process seemed so much easier after going thru the K-1.

We have now been married for almost 6 months, had 2 trips to Ireland/England to visit Tim's son and family (one with the AP card, one with the green card) and enjoying the break from paper work for the next few years till ROC.

While it seemed to take a long time while we were going thru the process (and I know that for others it took a lot longer) it really did make our connection a lot stronger. When something happens in our life that we think is "bad" we laugh and say will that was nothing compared to waiting for NOA2 or doing the paperwork for AOS.

Take care everyone and best of luck on your journeys.

My record is £121.50 from Copenhagen to Los Angeles and return to London last November. So I just had to get the London to Copenhagen on top of that and the US domestics.

I usually use Oslo though because it's outside of the EU. I actually got an Oslo to Seattle return for less than £250 once on United in March last year.
