I submitted my notification of readiness on Tuesday! Very exciting and nervewracking.

What are people's experiences of having their interview scheduled? Do you get a lot of notice? I live in Scotland, so a week or so to book my travel would be really useful...!

Have you had your medical, or is it booked? It won't get scheduled until the Embassy has your medical results, but from my experience, I actually got my interview letter 8 days after the I had my medical, having already submitted by notification of readiness and the rest of it. Gave me 3 weeks notice of my interview date, which was a good amount of time. Just got to wait until next Friday to have it now!

It really depends. Me and friend on here both submitted our Notification of Readiness on the same day after a very similar medical date and we both got our letters on the same day as well. His appointment was scheduled for just 5 days later but fiance's was for almost a month out.

The only difference that we could think caused this was that he selected a much closer wedding date on his Notification of Readiness than we did.

I wonder if anyone can help me with some info - I'm wondering how long it will be from my interview, to getting my passport back? I return to the uk from working overseas on May 2 and hope to have my medical and interview that same week (CC at NVC was Feb 9). Problem is I HAVE to travel back out of the U.K. (To holland) on business again on May 8! Is there any expedited service available to get my passport back?? Or can I even pick it up from the embassy? Hoping someone might know!!

There is a list somewhere on here that has how long different people have to wait. I think it averages 9-14 days but I'd check on that thread. There is no expedite as far as I am aware.. maybe you can ask for a postponed interview date until you can come back? If anyone else knows more I'm sure they'll chime in.

There is a thread right on the first page of this UK FORUM called "Interview date to visa in hand" that will show you exactly how long it took a bunch of people. You will notice it varies and you could be fast or slow. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/550974-interview-date-to-visa-in-hand-how-long-2015-data/?p=8006014

No you can not pick up in person.

There is no way you can have a medical and interview the week of May 2 and a visa in hand by Sunday May 8. There is a delay of 3-4 days between the medical and the embassy receiving the results of the medical. If they don't have those, they can't even approve you at the interview.

If you need to travel on May 8 and you should be lucky enough that you have picked the exact week NVC will assign your interview (May 2) then you tell them you can't leave your passport because you have to travel. When you will be able to turn loose of your passport for a couple of weeks, you send it to the embassy via the courier and they will begin processing your visa. They won't jump on it the day it arrives so don't have expectations it will be returned in a week. Like everything else, it varies a lot. Some have been 3-4 weeks when they had to send it after the interview.
