EXCITING TIMES!!

I am now calling people from UK currently in states.. I need your advice ref driving in USA. I know that (in Arizona), I can drive with my UK licence, UNTIL I am legally a citizen, then I need US licence. My question is, do I need to change my name on my UK licence once I am married to legally drive on the UK licence?!

I am the beneficiary originally from UK !!

ROC Timeline:

01.04.19: I-751 Received @ Phoenix

01.09.19: Check Cashed

02.13.19: NOA Received

04.30.19: Biometrics Completed

It is, i'll be happier about this time next week because i'll be knowing either way :)

2 weeks today for me, it's going quickly and slowly at the same time!

That's how i've been feeling, you're not far behind.

You won't be a citizen for around four years and I'm sure they won't let you use your UK license that long.

You may want to keep a photocopy of your marriage certificate with you to show your legal name change until you qualify for an AZ license. An EAD card will allow a state license.

Arizona DMV rules state the following:

You may legally drive in Arizona using a valid driver license from another country. An international driving license or permit is not required, but it is recommended because it can be printed in English and used in conjunction with the driver license from the other country. If an international driving license or permit is used alone, it must be issued by a country other than the United States. Vehicle rental companies may have additional requirements.

However, Arizona law requires that you obtain an Arizona driver license (and vehicle registration) immediately if any one of the following applies to you:

  • You work in Arizona (other than for seasonal agricultural work).
  • You are registered to vote in Arizona.
  • You have place children in school without paying the tuition rate of a nonresident.
  • You have a business that has an office in Arizona that bases and operates vehicles in this state.
  • You have obtained a state license or pay school tuition fees at the same rate as an Arizona resident.
  • You have a business that operates vehicles to transport goods or passengers within Arizona.
  • You have remained in Arizona for a total of seven months or more during any calendar year, regardless of your permanent residence.

Out-of-state students enrolled with seven or more semester hours are not considered Arizona residents, regardless of employment.

Active-duty military personnel based in Arizona who qualify for exemption under the Service Members Civil Relief Act of 2003 are not considered Arizona residents.

-

Based on this.. you're going to need an Arizona license much sooner than citizenship which will be years away for you. :) To change the name on your UK license is quite a bit of fuss indeed. The UK won't make it easy on a person from another country to do it either.. https://www.gov.uk/change-name-driving-licence

Having so many issues trying to pay this visa fee...

First had to call my Credit Union and make sure it the charge wouldn't get flagged as fraudulent. I told the lady I spoke to what the payment was for and proceeded to receive a ridiculous lecture about stranger danger and trusting someone I don't know/sending money overseas.

Literally nothing I said could convince her I knew my fiance and knew what I was doing and eventually I just asked to talk to her manager and it was just a huge mess.

We finally got what we needed to make sure the charge would go through on their end and then tried to pay for it and it was declined. This time I called the Credit Union and they said it was something on the vendor's end. I really have no idea what to do now other than contact them via email as they suggest and hope we hear back from them..

Did anyone else have any issues paying the visa fee??

We had a problem to paying for the visa too. It would not take a visa or master card of mine even after I called the credit card companies to say the purchase was allowed.

What they want it a debit card so they can take the cash out of a persons bank account and not put on credit. We did pay the home delivery service with a regular credit card FYI.

Yeah, and I figured that so I used my debit card, not my credit card but it still didn't work.

At least we still have some time before he interview to figure it all out.
