Quick question, are you still able to travel when you're waiting for an interview letter?

My other half's daughter isn't doing too well and I'm bracing myself for the worst.

You can - but be careful - you don't want to MISS the interview. I don't think it's too easy to change the date because they need notice in WRITING.

I would be sure to know the date first if I'm honest.

Thanks, I'm waiting for news on what's going on and will make a decision, I'm ready to go though this is when the distance thing is at it's hardest.

If needs be I'll attempt to phone the embassy and see if they have a date.

And we all can share that pain.. long distance can be so difficult especially when something happens that can throw everything off course.

I think a call to the embassy would be good then you can plan around the interview date.

I hope everything works out.

Thank you :) it's sounding a little more promising than it was a couple of hours ago.

Hopefully I can just sit back now and wait for the letter.

I hope things improve and you dont have to suffer the pain that is long distance heartache ((hug))

Technically you can travel but you are at the mercy of the immigration bod at the border and of course if you miss the interview that would create more issues, fingers crossed things keep improving and you don't have to make a decision.

Re SSN you can go to your local office with a print out of your I-94 (can be accessed online), fill out the form that is available in the guides on here and they will process for you, in theory as it is all online now you should be able to do it immediately but I figure a few days wait is probably safer :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Thanks for your help on this! I thought this was the case, but again, VJ horror stories! I suppose I was expecting it to be more complicated like everything else, but in fact, it is quite straightforward.

Getting my passport photo done now in prep for my interview on Monday! WAAAAA

In theory it should be straightforward but like everything it depends on the person you see!

I printed out all the guides and info and will be going in fully armed

Eeek Monday, it's come round fast! I will be waiting for your happy dance post :D

Yeh I've done that too, and emailed the ZIP file to my fiancé so it's all there when I am in states! being the girl, I made the executive decision to manage the Visa filing.

I KNOW!!!! can't believe it. Well, let's hope I am dancing, as my flights are booked!

morning guys!

I had a worry last night about getting my SSN. When and HOW do we do this? I think we can do it straight away?

Here's what we did. A few days after arriving, we checked his I-94 on the website to see if it had been entered in correctly (or at all). Once we confirmed that, we printed out the I-94. We were pretty busy with planning the wedding so we waited about two weeks, and then headed to the local SSA office, bringing with us all the things the SSA guide on VJ recommends. That means passport, I-94, form to fill out, and the SSA employee manual thingyamy that shows a K1 is eligible. I wasn't sure how a tiny town SSA would handle a K1 so I was ready for issues.

We explained to the SSA employee about the situation, and confirmed no he is not working because he can't work yet. I mentioned quickly that K1's were eligible, held up the papers to see if it would prompt them. They seemed to do a lot of typing before they nodded they had found him. The card arrived within a few days with no problems.

We returned after we married to get my SSA done. :)

Quick Question!

So our case was received at the London Embassy on the 29th of December- Saying READY.

It's been almost a month and my fiance in the UK has not yet received a letter from them - should we be concerned about this?

He needed to get his passport renewed before he left -- was expiring in March 2016!! So we are waiting on that before we can get police certificate etc. And have to wait for the police certificate before we can schedule medical! Getting a little nervous as our I-129F expires on March 30...

When you scheduled your medicals, were you able to easily get a date / time? Or was it limited?

I'm the US Petitioner
