We were already married, and living in the UK, my wife (USC) had right to remain in the UK

We were looking after my father who had dementia, but the plan was always to move Stateside

I must admit we really didn't think it would take 15 months, but we didn't factor in the NVC 'misplacing' part of our file!!

We certainly learnt patience!!

Oh dear. Such a long process. You could have done Direct Consular Filing to USCIS in London and skipped the NVC entirely. Could have had a visa in maybe 4 months.

We actually planned it this way

My wife would return, get a job, establish our new home, get a car etc which went okish (shipping container got delayed)

I would continue working, then move over once she had done all the work lol

Just the timescale was more than we expected, it had been running at about 6 months when we first discussed it

We got a little unlucky with NVC (the polite answer)

The whole process was an absolute breeze otherwise

You know when you think you know as much as you should know, then you for whatever reason worry there is something you don't know and then panic? I am having one of those moments!

Packet 3 is just the letter from London, correct? saying they have your case?

What is packet 4?!

My case on CEAC just says ready still. which apparently means they are "waiting for something" from me. but I have done everything (DS160, medical, readiness).

Mine still says ready and hasn't had any updates since Dec 23rd, dont worry as long as you have submitted the notification of readiness and DS160 they will schedule your interview (says she who spent days worrying about the same thing) :)

ok fab! I just had to double check!! I think it's because I read somewhere else about people "sending" packet 3 but London is different. What is packet 4 though?! do we get one? or is this the visa!

Each embassy does things differently just to give us an added excuse to stress lol

I believe packet 4 is the interview letter :)

Ahhh thank you!! I feel assured now :) I was manically stressing yesterday looking at AOS stuff.. wahh!

I think some embassies schedule medical and interview at the same time so there is no delay in between! WHY CAN'T LONDON DO THAT!

Would've saved me a 12 hour day last Thursday, had they done it all in one and another trip up to London!

Haven't heard anything from Knightsbridge, so it looks like the medical was all cool and groovy.

They cant do the interview and medical on the same day as Knightsbridge have to get the results to the Embassy so we'd always have 2 trips to do - we get it easy compared to some as we are only a small country and have pretty good transport links so the travel is limited - China for example can have a heck of a trip getting to their locations!

It would be too easy for them both to be arranged at the same time - we need things to stress over, we would only create a whole new bunch of stuff to worry about if it was too simple...

Fingers crossed everyone waiting hears good news soon :)
