We are still waiting for our NOA2, we are hoping it to be this week sometime, I am debating whether to do my police certificate now or wait till our NOA 2 comes first.

Well PROVIDED you have a swift process and no RFE's, I would say go for it.

I did mine before we got NOA2. Because I thought it would take ages - I actually got my police cert in 2 weeks. They are valid for 6 months I believe. Maybe to be safe, wait for NOA2. If you know you will have a clear police record it wont take long!

Thanks for the reply, I know i have a clean police record as never done anything bad and for my job I work with the elderly and have to have DBS checks every year. I know the police certificate is different but I know I'm safe with that! I might wait till the end of the week to see if we hear anything about NOA2 then apply for the police certificate next week.

Your police certificate is valid for 12 months. You need to take it to the medical so get it ordered. Go get your shots sorted at the GP. Have your fiance get her I-134 ready.

Thanks for the reply! I'll crack on and get police certificate done now I'm off to the Doctors on Friday so will ask about my vaccination record I have just moved doctors so not sure if it takes long to transfer medical notes but will ask and see.

S is cracking on with the stuff needed for I-134 she is going to try get it finished off at the weekend

Due to my process taking 15 months my Police Cert expired! So I had to get another

They turn them round in 10 days, so I wouldn't get yourself in too much of a pickle

Ouch that's a long time! I'm just going to scan my documents needed and message a friend to see if she will be the endorser for me and just leave it till we hear about our NOA2 then I can just do it straight away as I have the documents ready to upload to the ACRO Criminal Records Office application.

I went the IR-1 route which is longer, but saves the faff once in the USA lol

That's very true! We went over the pros and cons of both visa's and decided the K1 suited us better, we want to start our married life together. I know it's going to be strange for me having to wait for my EAD & AP then Greencard, its going to take time for me to adjust and the time I won't be working I want to get out and explore my new home and area, I may join some social groups and look into volunteering if I can to keep me occupied but gives me chance to settle in

We were already married, and living in the UK, my wife (USC) had right to remain in the UK

We were looking after my father who had dementia, but the plan was always to move Stateside

I must admit we really didn't think it would take 15 months, but we didn't factor in the NVC 'misplacing' part of our file!!

We certainly learnt patience!!

Awww I work with people with Dementia/Alzheimers and its the most horrible thing to watch and for people to suffer with, it takes a lot of patience and mental strength to deal with and go though both as family and the care team supporting the person.

I know I think I'm feeling it more at the moment as I've been off work for 5 days and I've tried to keep myself busy during the day but on an evening I find it hard to sort of switch off about the whole visa process, some nights in bed I lay awake thinking about visa stuff, moving, wedding stuff its never ending! Luckily back at work tomorrow to distract me!
