Got an email today from what I think is the embassy with the subject US. Dos Visa system return travel document shipment notice, with a tracking number included. I am mystified as on checking ceac my case still says administrative processing. I thought ceac updated to issued before you heard from the courier? Could this be my visa and passport or do you think it is something else, any ideas?

Sounds like your visa is on the way. The CEAC is not super dependable. It normally updates to issued. It seems more likely that somebody forgot to push the Issued button, over somebody randomly attaching your email to another person's visa package. But stranger things have happened. Like sending the wrong sealed envelope which was only discovered when opened at POE. And sending somebody's packet 3 letter and copy of petition to another K1. She got two....hers and a strangers. You'll find out tomorrow I guess if the delivery comes.

Arrived in the US on Wednesday - wow what a relief and joy after all the waiting! Looking forward to my wedding on the 17Th and currently sat looking through all the AoS paperwork!

Thank you! Yes, it was not so much complicated as it was tiresome! All the best for your interview. If it's anything like my experience, you will be absolutely fine. It's hardly a grilling as they've done all the legwork in checking you beforehand.

Not too bad. Although if you were unsure of the process that happens next you'd be lost as they didn't even give me the leaflet on AoS that I've read some get at POE.

Pretty grumpy official to start with who took my passport and envelope (after taking my fingerprints and photo) and then summoned me over to this waiting area next to another desk. Waited for about 10-15 minutes and then they called me up to the other desk, the guy told me I had to get married and apply to adjust my status within a 90 day period (marked by the stamp he'd put on the page next to my visa). That confused me a little as I thought I had 90 days to marry and then ANOTHER 90 days to apply for AoS? I'm sure we'll have everything in within the 90 days anyway (as I'm getting married on Saturday). But, apart from that, the guy said 'have a nice day' and handed me back his passport.

All relatively painless!

It seems like officers do not know the rules all over the places. I never read anywhere that you have to apply for AOS within 90 days period?

You're married and once you enter the visa is used and the condition of the visa means you have 90 to get married or leave. AOS has no time period attached to it, but you will have no rights in the country if you don't file and be stick in limbo if not filled asap.

Nope, you can file whenever after you're married. I recommend taking into account the processing times for certain cases. Some cases are over 16 months and still in the waiting phase (NPIW cases). Other requiring an interview seem to be quicker and vary 5 months onwards, but it's hard to tell. Just take into account the implications of bot filing: Driving licence, SSN, work, education, status, being able to leave and a variety of other things. Also, your medical now expires in one year as opposed to expiring within one year of filing. Mean that you have a year to file and your medical is okay, is no long the case, it's one year only and you may receive a RFE in future. All this stuff isn't a big deal, but weighing up what's important and knowing what's ahead helped me a lot! I did everything early, it made it a smooth process. A driving licence made the world of difference for me, but varies from state to state. just having a standard American ID.

We submitted our AOS packet yesterday. More forms but really felt good... more informed this time. Today we are off to get a SSN for Tim and my name changed on mine. Best of luck to all the interviews this week.
