Yeah I am the same, I never finished learning to drive, I started in September 2013 and I stopped in December as I had a horrible instructor, she would point out my mistakes but would have a go at me and keep saying "why did I do that!?" It got me down so much I would keep making more mistakes and of course to her it seemed like I wasn't learning. The lessons were like £46 for two hours so I couldn't afford it anymore. I know I will have a better experience in America, my Fiance said his dad will teach me when I get my learners permit and I look forward to it, I have never drove with ice and snow around though, as I will be moving to Minnesota.

Ugh, I had a pretty similar experience with my instructor. I pushed the handbrake down and it "creaked" a bit because I didn't push the button all the way in. He grabbed it from me, put the handbrake back on and said "do it again". This wasn't on a quiet road, it was on an busy road at a set of traffic lights where I was at the front. I did it again and it creaked a little bit and he repeated the same thing. It was awful! It's bad enough drivers giving learners ####### but doing that to me and holding everyone up behind me was ridiculous! At least take me to a quiet road and have me practice there. Idiot.

I'd love my fiance to teach me, or even his Dad, who are both great drivers. But his Dad's car is a BMW and I'm not sure if his Mum will let me learn in hers...the fiance used to have his own car but that was given to his sister when he moved to England. We'll see!

Just in the process of starting our "journey"! This site has been amazing with the information & tips.

I met my fiance in November while on vacation & we've been "online" since then. I'm back in Arkansas at the end of March & the plan is to send in the I-129F at the beginning of April before I fly back to the UK. I've managed to put together pretty much the full file to send bar a few final details & dotting the i's / signing the t's!

We've given ourselves time to save before the wedding so hopefully the timescales will work out, we're aiming for late Spring 2016 wedding.

I'm sure this site will continue to be a valuable asset as the journey progresses - I'll be back when the petition goes in

You will be living pretty close to us! Maple Lake is only about 25 minutes or so from where we will live (and where I live now). We drive through it to get to my Grandfather's house. There is a REALLY great 'Irish' coffee house in ton, they have GREAT almond milk lattes.

Well at first we will live in Maple Lake then we will move to Annandale as that is where my fiance works. Where abouts do you live then? if it's okay to ask.

Smart!! I'd hate to have my perfect wedding planned and then have to cancel it because of delays for a visa . I know it's happened to people on this site too, what a nightmare.

I haaaate to say it, but I'm pretty sure your processing centre will be Texas if you're from Arkansas and that means you will probably face a big time gap between your NOA1 and NOA2 :/. You might already be aware of it though since you said you're taking into account the long delays, but people are experiencing 5+ month wait right now.

Just had my first goodbye with a UK friend I won't be seeing again before I leave. The reality of moving away is starting to hit me! Feeling a bit emotional today!

Aww *hug*. It hasn't quite hit me yet that I am leaving England for good this time. I've still got a few months left in the UK and now I have a job I can actually afford to do stuff with people! I only have a couple of friends who are really good with internet communication, but at least there is something like Facebook that keeps people connected in some way .

any know how long of average it takes them to look at a completed ds-160?

i filled mine out on the tenth of feb but the CEAC status hasnt changed, is the par the course and expected or should they have read it by now?

I'm not sure why it's important for them to look at the DS-160? I only noticed a change in my CEAC once I submitted the application of readiness and once I had my medical. To be fair though I wasn't checking CEAC as religiously as I was towards the time of having all my documents ready.

Have you finished collecting all your documents for the interview?
