Gizzmondo: It's still pretty early yet. My suggestion, if a week or two have gone by of waiting and you still haven't received anything is to send off an email to the embassy, ask about your interview date. They will tell you.

I agree, you shouldn't call yet as it's only been about a week. I think we waited almost 3 weeks before calling. I wasn't able to get any response from the embassy, but definitely try that route as well.

I was adamant about trying after waiting that long, because I knew we were having trouble getting mail - also our lawyer was supposed to be notified and never was either. I think every situation may be slightly different, but you don't want to jump the gun to early as they say.

Daniel was approved this morning! Nothing out of the ordinary or that you wouldn't already know reading the dozens of London reviews. The only thing of note is that his interview was at 8am so it appears they've moved back to morning appointments.

I had my interview at the embassy this morning, and approved!!

Thanks you so much to everyone who has helped us so far and the continued support. It means a lot.

Just checking, they don't give you anything to say it's approved right? The lady gave me back my birth certificate, Police cert. and affidavit stuff.

Congratulations!

My interview was also approved! :joy:

Congrats to all of you!! :joy:

Hard for me to believe, on Monday I will be flying out to be with my loved one in the USA and entering on a K1 visa! I have literally not stopped over the past two months, and have still barely packed anything yet. Hoping to get the worst of it done tonight, then try and tie up all the loose ends tomorrow. It still hasn't quite sunk in yet either, and I doubt it will until I'm sitting on the plane heading to the US on a one way ticket. It's both exciting and daunting at the same time!

Hi Everyone, been a while thought I do a quick update! Arrived in Houston Friday last week. POE took 3 hours from off the plane to getting through customs, landed the same time as a couple of other 747's. When I got to the boarder control guard he opened my packet, I had this feeling he shouldn't have done that, I don't know why I got that feeling. In any case he asked some questions why I was here, what is this visa, and then told me I had to go to the holding room. Loads of people in there too so waited ages until called forward, first question.... Who opened this packet? I said the guard at the booth 2, he stared at me for about 10 seconds and then mumbled that packets must not be opened, I said I knew this which is why I just spent the last couple of days protecting this packet as my life depended on it. He seemed to accept that, for a moment my mind was about to explode! Then asked a bunch of questions around my fiancee and my visa and intentions. Told me briefly I needed to apply for adjustment of status etc and that was that. Grabbed my bags, through customs and to be reunited with my happy to-be wife! We spent the weekend just chilling out in Houston, really did not want to talk anything about visas for a couple of days!

Applied for my SSN yesterday, had no problems with that and on my way to collect it today.

Hope everyone is well and progressing with the process :)

Thanks for the update Rob! Definitely will be telling Daniel to not let the border agent open his envelope. I'll suggest he tell the guy/woman that it needs to remain unopened when he goes back to the other room as he's handing it over to the first person in the big hall. Sorry it took so long for you to get through, must have been boring. Was your fiancee waiting in terminal E the whole time?

You're collecting your social security card today??? I've never heard of that option!

I suggest if Daniel sees the guard about to open the envelope just say that he heard from the embassy that the envelope needs to be unopened for the further processing in the holding room. These guards never like being told what to and not to do. In any case, if the guard still opens it then tell Daniel to remember the booth number that he was first seen too so he can relay which guard it was. They have CCTV so I'm sure they can check it was opened by the guard and not Daniel.

It's a really awkward sized envelop, tell him to keep the plastic bag from the courier around the envelope to protect it better, especially as he'll have no choice from storing it in the luggage bin above his head (unless he's flying business with more room!). I just laid it on top of all the bags and made sure I had an aisle seat to get up first to get it before anyone else pulled their bags down when we landed.

No just the number, two weeks to get the card. They have given me the number, thought I try and get a cell phone plan from AT&T but they can't find my SS number in the system yet. Guess I have to wait a little longer.

Ps. Gosh it's hot!!! Daniel should pack some shorts in hand luggage change into on the plane before landing!
