LOL I wouldn't know Yuna. My passport is 9 years old. It has no chip, no color, no designs.

I think it should be an eagle firing a cannon. Maybe they save the good stuff for the green card lol

Oh lol. It really is hideous.

I miss my old one.. it used to be so pretty and didn't make my face look a strange shade of sherbet orange...

My visa arrived today via courier (on a moped)! I needed to show proof of ID for receipt (I used my long form birth certificate) and had to sign the electronic hand held box that the courier had. With that done, the package was handed over to me.

It was given to me in a sealed plastic envelope (N.B. courier card and keys used to cover personal information):

This might be a really stupid question, but can ONLY the addressee sign for the delivery? I was hoping maybe my dad or brother could do it for me if I'm at work (using their ID of course)

I just paid the fee over the weekend so this is pretty fresh. There was a place in the form when selecting the courier information, I believe, to add additional people who you're permitting to pick up for you. We didn't do delivery so I'm not sure exactly how registering for that goes, but I assume that any additional parties you designate will carry over there too. Hopefully someone can jump in if I'm wrong.

Yes, a nominated person can sign for delivery. See section (5).

Home or Office Delivery Service
  1. The Courier will attempt to deliver your package up to 3 times to the requested address. If the courier is unable to make a successful delivery, the courier will return your package to the originating consular section.
  2. When delivering to a home address, the courier will only release the parcel to an adult who is willing to sign for the documents.
  3. When delivering to a business address, the courier will release the parcel to the personnel authorized to sign for packages.
  4. If the Courier's initial attempt to deliver your package is unsuccessful, they will leave a calling card. For redelivery attempts, the applicant must prove their identity at the time of the delivery with any of the following forms of documentation:
    • Official or State issued Identification card (with photo)
    • Official driver’s license (with photo)
    • Birth Certificate
    • Debit or Credit Card
    • Two Utility Bills
  5. During a redelivery, adult applicants may authorize a third party to accept the delivery on their behalf. The third party must present the following documents at the time of delivery
    • An applicant signed letter of authorization that contains the third party’s full legal name.
    • A photo copy of one of the applicant’s identification documents listed in item #4.
    • The third party must also identify themselves with one of the documents listed in item #4. The name on the identification must match the name on the authorization letter.

My fiancé was approved today.

I wanted to give a smaller write-up here, before I poke him to relay a larger review when he has been able to relax from the long journey.

There wasn't very many people at the embassy today it seems, he was right at the front of the line, so he went through quickly. All in all I think the process took just about an hour. There was no grumpy asian lady either. He was very prepared and organized. They didn't ask to see his DS160 confirmation and didn't want it when offered. They took both proofs of income he offered. Everyone was very polite. His interviewer seemed to be a new trainee, so she was a bit disorganized and seemed unfamiliar and a little frazzled but did her best. She only asked a few questions, and as his accent is quite thick, as usual she had some trouble understanding him. I think I'm the only American that can. :P

She said it would be about two weeks.

It's a ridiculous relief that it's finally all over.

This sounds very similar to Michaels experience in Monday. He thought his interviewer was new too, as her supervisor stayed in the room the whole time. She only asked a few questions as well.

Tim had his medical today. For the most part it was fine but the doctor wants more information on a couple of issues. He suffered mild depressions 3 years ago and the letter from the doctor regarding this and stating he was not a harm to himself or others was not enough. There is a list if questions that they need answered. He is going to get me the list so I can post it. Also he has some mobility issues with his shoulder since the tetanus shot that the doctors have been trying to fix. During the exam she noticed this and wants more detail on the issue and treatment. She said once he has this he is good and passed. Poor guy, I thought we were all good with the info I sent but now more stuff.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am going to post this in the March filers group so sorry for the repeat for some.

Daniel was approved this morning! Nothing out of the ordinary or that you wouldn't already know reading the dozens of London reviews. The only thing of note is that his interview was at 8am so it appears they've moved back to morning appointments.

I'm a married woman ! Now time to get back in the loop. Applying for a social security card any tips ?

Comgratulations Mrs.

Apply in the name exactly as on I94. It has to match immigration records. On the form http://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf check "Legal alien allowed to work". Don't let the worker say a K1 is not eligible. He is eligible for a SSN. There is a whole guide in the right column of the Guide Section of VJ. Some workers are not very well trained to deal with K1s. Ask for a supervisor if you have any difficulty.

Happy for you!

Congrats E-N on your marriage and Wooderz on your approval!!!

Nich-Nick, I just wanted to let you know that in our household your posts are the answer to all our questions. Something comes up and the first thing Tim asks is "has Nich-Nick posted anything on this topic". I do not know if you can truly understand how helpful your knowledge and advice is to the folks in the UK forum and Visa Journey. If you are ever in Portland I would love to buy you and your hubby dinner!!

For us...today we sent Knightsbridge the additional information they requested so hopefully we will be able to move forward with an interview soon.

I am starting to feel like so many that it all seems so close but so far away to the finish line.

Take care everyone!

Thanks for the very kind words Sunya. The finish line is in sight, but you're tired of this and just want it to be over. When you look back, another few weeks won't seem as bad as it does now. We are close to our seventh anniversary and I think Wow! that went by in a flash.

I would love to visit Portland. We'll have dinner for sure. :)
