Can I get a Canadian Police Certificate before moving back to UK?

Hi guys,

If this topic has already been covered, please let me know. I can't seem to find any other discussions on it that answer my specific question!

I'm Scottish, but live in Toronto on a Canadian Working Holiday Visa (and have been here for almost 2 years). I'm due to leave here at the beginning of May. We just received our NOA1 and I put the embassy I'd be applying to as London, UK as there's pretty much no chance I'll have an interview here by May!

I'll need to get a Canadian Police Certificate...I'm under the impression that I'll need to get one with fingerprints as I won't be living in Canada anymore when I go for my interview. Is this correct? Also, I was thinking it would be easier to get the police certificate before I leave Canada so it's not as complicated...but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or has anyone gone through the same thing?

Thanks!

It depends how long you stayed in Canada and what is the requirements of the UK embassy where your interview is gonna be.

I had my interview at Mintreal and it says: "Each visa applicant aged 16 years or older must submit a police certificate from every
country where he/she resided for at least 6 months after the age of 16."

I am a student here and so I got one from Canada.

So, if you've lived here (Canada) for more than 6 months, it would be wise to get a police certificate before you leave. It just takes at most one week and costs about $60-70. If UK wants you to present, then you will have it.

Good luck with your interview :)
