FBI info line

Hello!

Sometimes I see people write that they confirm with FBI info line that FBI got their biometrics. How can you guys do that? Is there any phone number? I am stuck in name check and want to find out if FBI actually received my biometrics.

Confirming Prints received

1-304-625-2000

Select the option of Immigration on the auto-attendant, get a

switchboard operator, tell them you want to speak with someone

regarding immigration fingerprinting. A rep will answer and look

up your "A" number and confirm when/if prints were received and

returned.

would they just tell you if they got your fingerprints or would they actually tell you if you are stuck in the name check???

I just called that number and got a person (was shocked, it seems like you never get a person when you call someone, I was totally flustered) and after I finally got Immigration out she said "o you want to check the status of your background check" and connected me. Unfortunately the department was closed (closed 4 minutes before I called ) but my question is, are the fingerprints the same thing as the background check or could the background check be connected to this infamous namecheck holding us all up and is there really some glimmer of hope in finding out info on it from this FBI line?

Not the same thing. The fingerprints are supposed to be received and returned by the FBI on the same day they are taken.

if we call that number, would we be able to know if we are stuck in the name check? or is it they just inform us that they received our fingerprints?

Seems to good to be true to be able to find out the status of a background check by just calling since so many other people have been waiting forever on it and not found out anything, my hopes aren't really up that much, but maybe I'll get lucky!

All she could tell me was his prints were received and sent back (we did Biometrics twice so I was glad the second set worked) and that the FBI background check was done at main headquarters and they are backlogged (o really, I didn't know ) and they are accepting no correspondance.

Yup. All they tell you is the date the prints were run. That number knows nothing about the namecheck. There is NO number you can call to find the status of your namecheck.

Yeah I knew it was too good to be true but the switchboard lady wanting to know if I wanted info on background checks before she connected me had my interest peaked. I just had to try!

This is what i got from another site: ***removed*** under fingerprinting: Once your fingerprints are taken,you can check with the FBI whether your background has been checked and your fingerprint report has been sent back to USCIS or not. FBI does not tell whether the fingerprints were rejected or whether they found anything negative about you.
