Not sure if you've decided on your plan of action yet OP, and not sure if this is still the case with CSC, but if you do manage to somehow get it transferred to CSC, they take considerably longer to ship files to NVC. There's a whole thread about it here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/526480-noa2-to-nvc-have-you-been-waiting-more-than-a-month/

So while a lot of people get their NOA2s at a rapid pace there, it takes them longer to get those approved cases shipped to NVC, which could also add delay. Probably not as much as waiting on TSC (our approval too 187 days), it's still a delay of sorts.

Good luck.

99.9% of west coast petitions are assigned to CSC; 99.9% of east coast petitions are assigned to TSC - there are a couple of forum topics about that

OK, thanks for your reply

Are they not doing Vermont anymore?

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

Thanks, but there might be a way out of the TSC hellhole, at least for our case. Curious if changing the address to California would trigger a transfer to CSC. CSC means wedding in August would be no problem.

The only downside to jumping around - and there is no guarantee that an address change will trigger a transfer - is that the backlog can sometimes be at CSC as well. With USCIS it's a crapshoot it seems. TSC has historically been the service center with the backlog, but there were times where CSC were the ones with the backlog.. There's just no telling either way. It's up to you, you can try to trigger a transfer by changing address.. Perhaps I missed if you actually have a valid address in that state or are attempting to get one in order to move the process along? I didn't get a chance to read the entire thread.

Also, I agree with the post two above me - CSC takes significantly longer to transfer to NVC. For example, I know of a friend who waited almost a month and a half for a transfer. Our NOA2 was January 23 and TSC shipped our case to NVC on January 27. CSC seems to wait for batches, TSC sends in smaller batches or however they do it. Either way they are quicker on the second part than the first.

Thanks for your reply - I see CSC approves cases in less than a month. TSC should really send them some work over to balance things out evenly.

Yes, there is a valid California address, as the PA one is temporary. Will move to Cali from May anyway (parents address), so will have to submit a COA anyway - will keep you guys posted if it triggers a transfer or not, but in my optimism I still hope I get NOA2 from TSC by May :)

Sample size of 1 and yours was not for a K-1 visa. You are the exception and not the rule (nor am I, who is at the opposite end of the spectrum).

Not sure, but maybe yours being an i-130 made a difference (the OP is talking about an i-129F). There was a whole group of people (see the thread I referenced) who had issues with theirs being shipped to NVC - not all cases go rogue, obviously, or take a long time - but enough people have had this issue to sustain the life of a thread on here about it.

But legally we aren't, and that's what matters. Technically we are not breaking any law.

We can even call it an engagement party, even though she'll wear a wedding dress :)

You have to understand that your view and uscis view are different.

If they see a picture of her in a wedding dress that's it you're done for.

They will assume you are lying.

You're being very risky in your plans and treading dangerously low on the line.

Be cautious.

Don't do anything that would hurt your petition.

They obviously won't see any reception photos. They will see a marriage certificate with a date in those 90 days of the K1. Proof of ongoing relationship? We have tons of those which will not show any wedding dresses :)
