Hello everyone,

My wife's interview date isn't until February 23rd and she wont be coming to the US until at least after that. I'm looking to file taxes but since she doesn't have a SSN yet, I'm not sure how to go about it. Could anyone help me on what to do to file them?

You can file married filing separately or married filing jointly. If you chose to file jointly, you will need to get an ITEN for your wife. You can check here for more information. Another option is to file separately now, and file an amended return after she arrives.

Even if filing married filing separate, you still need your spouses ssn, or itin.

Gonna have to file for an itin, or just wait till she gets here and has a ssn.

I would NOT recommend filing single, as that is technically lying, and it could cause issues, even if you do amend it later.

Or even better, do the taxes as you would , married filling jointly, if you have to pay anything - do pay- and file extension. Once she gets here and you get the SSN, file then. You have until Oct 15, 2015 to file under the extension.

If you file with ITIN then you will have to submit to IRS a request to recognize EIC http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Individual-Taxpayer-Identification-Number-%28ITIN%29-Reminders-for-Tax-Professionals , which is ok but it's much easier to file extension and go without the ITIN then to file, and then file with IRS to recognize the earned income credit.

If you file married filling separately, the tax bracket will be higher and you will pay more in taxes.

According to your timeline, looks like you were married in 2013,

so you should be able to amend that tax and get few bucks back as well.

I do not believe this is correct.

If he files as Married Filing Separately he will not need to provide his wife's name or ssn. He will need to put NRA (for non-resident alien) on the line next to where he selects "Married filing separately". This is all the info the IRS needs.

Bendinlar is correct about not filing as "Single." If you have filed as "Single", while married, you will need to amend your taxes for those years.
