So I went to my infopass appointment today and I really don't know what to think of it all  I spoke with a very lovely lady at the St. Louis DO. She looked up my file and told me that actually my file is in Lee's Summit MO. I showed her my receipt notice from CSC and she told me that she had seen that it was sent to Laguna Nigel and that they had then sent it to the National Records Centre in Lee's Summit and it's now "locked away in a vault somewhere."

Obviously I asked what this meant with my case. First she told me I'm the first case she's seen of a CSC transfer with no interview- and then her boss took her to one side and explained about CSC transfer. She then told me that as far as she can see it was most probably approved, but someone forgot to order the card. It was then sent back to Lee's Summit to be locked away. Strange as I've never heard of this. She then told me to reschedule an infopass for next Friday to give her 7 days to get my file, as she's sent a request to Lee's Summit asking to see my file.

I then asked her if I was in FBI namecheck and she said as far as she can see on the computer everything is fine with my namecheck, that's not what the hold up is. So now i'm all dazed and confused as to what's going on.

I guess I better go and reschedule my appointment and then grovell to my boss tp get another friday afternoon off work

That is totally weird....and I would be super pissed off if they forgot to order the card. All this time worrying for nothing cause someone forgot to finish their job! :P

I'm stunned - so is hubby. How they can do this I don't know.

Here's hoping that next week they fix it and you get your green card. The least they can do is give you a stamp in your passport to say "approved"

We're thinking of you.

hey katie--what's the worry?

The same thing happened to us once--the file was sent to The Cave (Lee's Summit) without sending the card order in. Once the officer called them to pull it out, we had the card in about a week. My husband had been given 6 months' worth of I-551 stamp, and we didn't go in until 5 months had passed (hey, we're slow to catch a clue).

Don't be dazed and confused or mad.. these things happen! Congrats on your new status, and keep an eye out for your card in the mail.

Thanks for everyones responses. I went ahead and made another infopass appointment for Friday 16th at 2.30, I do hope this is the last time I need to ask off work to go down there. Luckily I'm about 30 mins from my DO so it's not such a big deal to go there again.

The thing that is worrying me is that she said it's PROBABLY an approval. That means there is a possibility that it wasn't approved and that it was just sent back accidentially, thus I would be sent to the back of the line at CSC even when they are at fault for me waiting 5 months while I think my file is at CSC.

I was so stunned, and the lady was soooo super nice, that I wasn't even pissed off I just said "Oh ok" and in pure shock. Really how can they have forgotten about my case? It makes me wish I had made an infopass sooner! Hopefully Friday will bring better news and she'll have my file. I'm gonna ask to see it as I really don't believe it even exists now, I'm still convinced it's lost somewhere. It's gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOONG week!!

Thanks Meaunxa, I guess I had never read a story like mine (although admittedly I'm not here often enough) so I was worried about it. I do hope my case is like yours. I don't want to get my hopes up too much that I've actually been approved just in case it's something else, but I sure do hope it's an approval!!

I am beginning to wonder if something like that happened with my AOS application. We applied in Atlanta July 2004; it was transferred to California October 10, 2005; I had biometrics early February, 2006 and then I sat. Finally, in May 2006 I found the email for California and emailed them, afraid that they had sent an RFE that I hadn't received or something and was waiting for my response. I got a reply 10 days later saying that the security check was complete and I would hear something further in a few days. About a week later I got the approval email followed quickly by the card. I wonder now if the email triggered someone to look at the file, discover it had been sent off to Lee's Summit without the finishing actions necessary and when they got the file they quickly corrected their error. I had just thought it was sitting on some lazy sob's desk all that time. Of course, the approval came 3 weeks prior to our 2nd anniversary - and nearly 23 months after we applied. Good luck with your AOS Katie - I hope you get your approval next week. And those of you still waiting in AOS hell - believe me, I do understand how you feel!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

katie, apply a little logic to this... (I know, bear with me!)

For your file to get sent to the cave, it had been completed in some way/shape/form. If approved, the card order is supposed to be sent while the file goes away.

If it had been denied, I think it would be HIGHLY likely that you would have received a Denial Letter already.

Why would your case 'not exist' anymore? For all the things they lose, they are not going to lose an entire file.

Look, if it means taking a day off that you don't want to, push your apopintment out past one week from today. If your card comes, you don't have to go.

I'm curious about the AOS hell tho.. you only got married this last summer..

Maybe I'm totally out of the loop. AOS typically took 2 years.. now, I know they are targeting 6 month turnarounds, but that is too long?

Well, overall, I would encourage you to not worry. Unless you like it. :)

Meauxna I know 6 months is nothing to wait at all, and I know there are others on here who have been waiting FAR FAR longer than I have. I only called the info line in dec to see why I had never received an email saying CSC had received it (as i believe is normal, from looking at this community anyway) and the rep told me she'd send out a service request as she told me i was outside of CSC processing (which makes no sense as no where I can find posts what their processing date is of transfered I-485 family based greencrads.) Anyway I received a letter on wednesday saying I had to make an infopass. If I had never received the letter I would have happily sat it out. There are other couples (like rebeccajo etc) that deserve theirs after waiting so long, who am I to moan about 6 months compared to her wait? I try and never moan about this process and I know i have hardly anything to moan about. Hopefully this will all be resolved, I'll take the afternoon off work, as I said I only live 30mins from my DO so in that respect I'm extremely lucky as it's not far at all.

Kathryn41 wow I'm sorry you went through so much with your AOS, thank goodness you have your greencard now! You must've had the patience of a saint to wait so long!! Maybe we should put the email addy on here for CSC for people who have been waiting a while?
