Medical Exam

Hello Everyone,

I am Canadian and my fiance is American.

We just filed the I-129F on January 19th. Money was taken today.

I am wondering if I am able to have a medical exam before receiving the NO2. The closest consulate to me is 4 hours away. I will be there for work at the end of February and was thinking while I'm there going to do the medical exam. Are you allowed to do it early? Or do you need to wait until you receive the NO2.

I don't think you can. You will need your Case number to reserve medical exam. You won't have a case number till your petition is approved. Case number is provided on noa 2.

Actually Medical exam should be done as late as possible before the embassy interview. You can search the reason here. It is only good for 1 year.

Thanks DA&WZ. I didn't think so, but I figured I will be there with paid travel expenses and would be so much easier. The consulate itself in Canada is even farther for me! My fiance and I are just going to have to make it a mini vacation time to also explore a new city.

Case number is not on NOA-2. It given by NVC.

You have to provide your case number prior your medical exam since it will written on DS-3025. The other thing, if you get medical exam too early, it will expired within a year. Assumed you have to wait at least 5 months for I-129F to processing, waiting time at NVC, consulate, and probably under AP. You have to think everything closely and precisely.

Don't if your file gets routed to TSC. Your X-Ray is only good for 6 months and the medical should be done close to the interview because of that.

If your are at Texas Service Center, it means you are looking at a 6-9 month wait JUST to get the I-129F approved, let alone move through the rest of the process.

If you get to CSC, you might risk it as processing is a lot faster there.

No. You need your case number which is provided by NVC (the stage after NOA2). Furthermore, the visa is only valid for six months from the date of the medical.

Unfortunately lots of us have to travel for our medicals and visa appointments. There is only one place we can have this done in the UK and for me it is about six hours away, a journey I had to do once for the medical and will have to repeat for my visa interview. It's inconvenient but we have no choice. For those who live in Scotland, this is more like an eight/nine hour trip. Again, very inconvenient and expensive to have to do twice.
