Has anyone had the problem of meeting someone with no family name; just a first and middle name? If so what do you do about that when filing the i-129f? My friend needs to know. By the way my wife is German and we filed for her i-130 a month ago in Frankfurt. Wish me luck!!! he he. Any info would be appreciated.

What name she uses on the passport ? I am not 100% sure but I think Indonesian passport requires last name on it. Good question though as I never thought about it. Let me ask my friends back in Indonesia.

I say that in this case the middle name functions as the surname, so he/she will be seen to have a first name and a surname, not a first and middle. In any case, use the name that is on the passport.

bande,

Most all Indonesians have a family name at birth, as indicated on the Kartu Keluarga (the fathers name).

With that said, and after they become adults, many Indonesians carry one name or two, not including the family name.

This can be done on a passport. However.......

If your Fiance does not yet have a passport, have them get a new identity card matching the "Kartu Keluarga".

Then apply for the passport with that name, matching identically. This will save you problems down the road.
