Ok the S&P and Dow are way high right now.

If you have 20, 30k, you'd still have to go high risk, like a small cap or an aggressive growth fund. Even if the market crash, you won't lose a lot.

If you have a lot in there, like 50k or more, a market correction will make a dent in your portfolio if you have it all in those funds.

I'd sit on a stable or socially responsible find until I see a market correction. How often can you change your allocations without penalty? If it's like 32 days, that's what I'd do.

But you have to watch the indices...

Stable funds will not make you money, 1-2% if you're lucky.

The good funds returned 200-300% in the past few years. It's going to take a dive. You want to be on the sidelines when that happens, wait for the bottom, and jump back in.

Don't blame me. This is not advice.....

5 year return is around 15%. It's not bad, in theory, this fund will double your money in less than 5 years. But is it going to keep that 5 year average for the next 5 years? (Probably not). When it took a dive in 08, it lost 33%.....

What you can do is jump in this fund when the markets are down, bearish. I wouldn't do it right now....

Look at the morning star style box. They call it a "blend". I call it a midcap....

I misread the thing. It hasn't averaged 15% a year for 5 years. But it was a good fund for the last 5 years. I'm betting not this year.....

If you email me a list of your choices in your plan, I'll sift through them and let you know what I think.

But right now, I'm making brad......

Check out the largest library in town,

as

they have meetings for newbies - recent immigrants and old people...

It's 'that', or go buy a book, then 10 more books, and always have a play account to test your theories.

or just let Steve manage your portfolio - for a small fee of course (but he can be had for monthly shipments of used underbritches, so that fee is not that large)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

And always keep at heart what Warren Buffett said.

"Be fearful when others are greedy, be greedy when others are fearful"

(Right now, others are greedy)

How does the pet insurance work?

How much is the cost per month?

i use trupanion. it covers pretty much everything that is not a pre-existing condition, including diagnostic tests, bloodwork, surgery, etc. they do *not* cover the vet exam fees (the only company that does is petplan but it's limited to exam fees in the case of accident/illness, not routine checkups). insurance company will pay 90%, i pay 10%. i have a $0 deductible for $35 a month. for most companies, the deductible (if you have one) is an annual one. for trupanion, the deductible is per issue/ailment. so if a pet has chronic illness like cancer, once you meet the deductible, it has been met for the pet's lifetime.

my trip to the emergency vet:

exam fees $104

meds $45

total bill with sales tax: $154

insurance pays 90% of meds - $40.50

my trip to the vet today:

exam fees were free (had a coupon from the shelter)

everything else was $146.83. minus sales tax, insurance company will reimburse me $127.53.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
