Well, if I was still with Comcast that is.

This new company might call me "Assertive Biotch".

Seriously, don't tell me nothing is wrong and insist on sending a tech out for $50 when you know you've freaking throttled me.

Optimum used to tell me that all the time. Then they send the tech out, and every time, it was their problem. So when fios became am option, I went for it. Then optimum was like "awe....why are you leaving us?" (After I told them a hundred times why).

yay office girl ! buy her a nice curry today ! show some luv !

ooooh - fun in the snow? or fun with the boy band retinues? :D

She likes cuchi fritos....

kit - when i was younger and poor, if someone invited me over to dinner,

I always brought half a case a beer. minimum. and maybe a bag of nibbles.

as i got older, i shifted to wine and good beer and deli snacks.

just because there's a lack of knowledge about etiquette, doesn't mean it's acceptable, or accepted as 'thats how its done here'.

Perhaps it's a generational issue, hubs not trained up about it at his prior home.

Nah, it isn't a generational issue because I was always taught the same. You never show up to someone's house empty handed - always with wine or a pie or something else.

oh...we have a new cat in the house. her name is baby and she's another shelter rescue. she's 12, super arthritic and hobbles around wherever she goes. it's pretty hilarious to watch her. she was very hissy and scared when we first got her and pretty much hid in her carrier for two days straight. if you dared to approach her, she'd hiss, swat, or nip at you.

it's been about a week now and she's calmed down and turning out to be a total lovebug, this morning she sought me out in the bedroom to demand pets and snuggles, but i had to carry her up to the bed cos she couldn't jump up lol. she's still hissy whenever something spooks her (and a lot spooks her) but i'm loving seeing this social side of her slowly peek out. :) pictures to come...

So troublesome, just pull out the wallet, pool money together and order takeouts.

No cooking at last minute.

i know it's not an 'america' thing, i said it was cultural. last night when we were talking, he said that his friends' houses are much messier, the ones who are still bachelors eat frozen/microwaveable meals and wouldn't know how to cook us a meal, so whatever i serve would be instantly better. and he brought up that when we were impromptu guests at his friend's house, the house was filthy (like, cat poop stains on the carpet, dirty laundry flung on the couch filthy). i told him that that's perfectly fine if the house owners are ok with that, but i hold myself and our home to a different standard.

i don't think it's generational either, because his mom is not like that. in fact when she has us over for dinner, she sometimes assigns me something to make beforehand and bring with me lol.

this is merry if her husband asked her to cook for a last minute guest:

 That's not how we work here..

We always have impromptu visits to friends houses.

We never expect others to cook unless they already offer that they have food in advance.

We will drop by grocery store on the way, pick up burgers patties, buns, cheese and chips --> cook them on the grill, very easy.

Otherwise we will just order pizza.
